High Clearance Fender/Bumper Cut

the one you DONT want is 1/16. this one is the one i accidentally bought and have a ton of from amazon.

I ended up going to home depot and just eyeballed it.

I'm 100 percent sure its 7/16 on length (i just measured it off the truck), but I'm not sure what the edge size is. Definitely not 1/16th lol

has anyone figured out any type of bracket for use with other brands. im very happy with my WARN winch mount. the bull bar sticks out further, ive had to push cows before. its cheaper and the winch mount is flat where the SSO is angled and I guess that's kinda a difference but marginal. mainly I bought it for the WARN name. anyway I want these now. picture from after last offroad trip. plus im about to get wheel spacers.

For the cut I used an ocsillating tool with a blade for plastic. Harbor freight. I cut 1/8” below my taped line and then used 80 grit paper in an orbital palm sander to get to the edge. I finished it off with 220 grit to clean it up and then added rubber door edge guard from amazon.

Looks great. Was the tool something like this?

Thats the tool. The blade i bought was the largest diameter semi circle shaped for plastic.

The liners were tough to cut just because of awkward access. I didnt pull the tires. I was able to bent the bumper bracket up and attach drivers side with a screw. The washer bottle on passenger side is visible but I am going to take care of that soon. Ill try and grab pics.

Ended up going by SSO and picking up thier trim for thier kit for $10 and the reservoir shield. Oh and a sweet T-shirt!

What are you guys using to cut?

When I installed my C4 low pro I used a dremel tool to cut away, didn't seem like the best option. Melted the plastic and was prone to spinning off on its own. I suppose with the edge trim the melting might not matter.

Diamond blades on a grinder work the best.

not really sure just some rocks that scraped (I imagine) from some of the ditches I went through. also bent my steps (need rocksliders) and bent a piece of my new magnaflow exhaust.

Did a quick high clearance mod/cut. I think I have to adjust the inner fender to make it a little tighter and cleaner.

Happy with the results. I basically taped the lower fender line, then cut at the bottom of the tape, to give it a little more depth.

Used some painters tape to make the line and the roll itself to form the curve cut. I went aggressive and I like it. Despite clean cuts I think it kinda looks like hot garbage from the profile view but w.e. Need to get a proper bumper eventually anyways. Definitely loses the soccer mom feel I get from the front plastics.


Bought the 1/16 trim lock before these other posts where made. It's definitely too small. Yet to order new edging. :shrug:

Just saw this now. I'm not even sure I think some rocks or a branch at the angle I took. I don't know but plastic so don't really care. I cancelled my order for those SSO high clearance things.

265 and high fender cut

Hey guys. I wanted to do a high fender cut but my size tires are not as big as what other guys have on their rigs. Does anyone have any pictures of their rig with a high fender cut and 265/70/17?

Didn't take many photos when I had stock size tires with the cut (switched out to 285 shortly after making the cut).

I almost ripped my front bumper off on a gnarly trail last year so a few of the clips are shot, and some other trail damage that I’m forgetting about caused the mounting tabs on the bottom to tear. I’m going full front bumper later this year after we move, so I figured I’d have some fun with what I’ve got.
