High Freq Start TIG on a 3rd gen?

Have any of you guys done high frequency start tig welding on your 3rd gen?

I am building a roof rack out of alum tubing. I want to tack it together while it is up on the roof.

I've read lots about the risk of frying electronics, advice on disconnecting the battery, grounding as close to the weld as possible, removing the computer, using lift start (which I don't have), etc.

But I am really curious if any of you have done high freq start tig on your 4Runner.

Can't tell you exactly on HF TIG, but I've welded on many vehicles with MIG and not pulled the battery. No issues from me. Same with any exhaust shop, they drive it onto the lift and start working, not battery disconnect. That said, it probably wouldn't hurt to do it, if you're worried about it.
