22RE 1989. After getting warm engine continues to idle at high rpm. Around 1800-2000. Ocassionally drops a little, sometimes gets back to 800-900 rpm.

what doest this piston do?

when push gas lever with finger he retrace down lowering rpm to normal. I spotted that he's reluctant to go all the way down.

what to do?

Robert

if im looking at the right one, it is whats called your dashpot. It prevents the rapid deceleration of the engine by holding it open just a bit until its vacuum is bled off.

I actually have the same issue where if you press on the throttle screw just a bit to close it more, the idle will drop to where it should be. mine is a 3.0 though.

you can verify If the dash pot is holding it open just by watching if it moves out any when you push back on the throttle. its not the problem on mine... I believe I need to clean out the bore.

You might check the following first:
1) timing
2) fuel pressures(rest and running)
3) o2 sensor
4) vacuum leaks(secondary crankcase, injector o-ring, etc..)
5) TB setting
