I'm at 237,000 now, but just moved into a 200 land cruiser with 29k. Let the counting begin on that! 2012 TE 4Runner still going strong, but mileage will only creep up from here on out as my son drives it short distances.

Any new members of the 100, 200, 300k club this year? Please leave your "high mileage" details if possible.

Yearly Check In on my 2015 @ 130k. A few minor issues outside of regular maintenance:
-Replaced sloppy sway bar end links and bushings all around
-Left Front Axel seal replaced after leak
-Front Toytec Aluma 2.5s started squeaking badly after 40k miles, bottom bushing failed. Was given a new set under warranty and trying to get the original set rebuilt and new bushings has been a PITA.

TIA for any contributions to the thread!

Yearly Check in again. Any new members to the 100k club?

147k on my 2015 SR5 and a few issues for me this year.
-Horn would only work when turning left or right. Had to replace the spiral cable and replaced with OEM.
-(1) TPMS battery died so replaced all (4) with discout tire units.
-Battery replaced with dealership unit after failing to hold charge for a few days. I suspect running the rear 120v plug in the trunk for my battery bank / fridge unit causes premature wear on my starting battery.
-Replaced my 285/70/17 C-load Wildpeak A/T3Ws with new 255/80/17 E-load ones. Got ~54k miles out of the 285s before I felt they were unsafe this winter.
-Another cracked windshield that I still need to replace. Seems to be a yearly item when driving in the mountains in CO.

For 2023 would like to replace my front wheel bearings and CVs as preventative care. Will keep the current ones as spares.

All in all still love the way the 4runner drives, engine and transmission feel the same as the day I bought it and still looks and feel new to me. Cheers.

Dang I forgot about this thread! Got 60K on my 2015 TE and loving it.

Checking in 4 years later...since the previous post I:

  • Traded in the '15 TE on a Macan S (put no money down when I bought the 4R new, still had equity in it when I traded it)
  • Sold the Macan S after a few months and got a 3rd gen SR5 (thought it would be 1-car solution to scratch the sports car itch while also having the practicality of an SUV...turned out to be too nice to take rock climbing/surfing/etc)
  • Gave the 3rd gen to my brother as his lease was coming up on his 2019 TRD OR and he gave me the opportunity to buy it at the buyout price, which was/is much less than market value during/after COVID
  • Have ~40K miles on the 2019 TRD OR...planning to keep this one long term

...as of 10/2/2022. Running great, no major issues. I do have the 'funk' from most-likely clogged moonroof drains, and a slight pulsing in the brakes, but I'll be taking it in for regular service soon so I'm guessing either new pads and resurfaced rotors or new pads and rotors will be in the cards. Other than those minor issues it just keeps chugging along. :)

I'm still rocking original CVs at 320k+ miles with lots of rock crawling, front locker, near 6k curb weight and 35" mud tires, YMMV. I have re-booted several times from torn boots and have an OEM spare sitting on the shelf.

214,000 on my '11 SR5- drives like a champ. Just upgraded the headlights (LED) to make it a bit brighter for the wife, as it is now her ride! I picked up a '23 TRD Offroad, also metallic grey, and working on getting it set up the way I want. My first 4Runner was a '96 SR5 with a manual transmission - absolutely loved it, but when I moved to the DC area, stop and go traffic was driving me crazy, so sold it and got the 2011 - the 96 had almost 250K on it. Treat them right, do the services and they will treat you right!

What lighting upgrade did you do?

:snacker: coming up on 6 years in May currently at 66k miles. Plan is to keep it long term and continue to enjoy it. Holding out for the next gen model before next SUV purchase.

Every time I think I have high mileage you guys humble me. Great to see more 300k+ data points.

Any major or minor mechanical issues with yours over the years? Cheers

Had the driver's side air valve break internally during removal to replace the spark plugs. Alternator went out about a month ago. In both cases I installed the replacement parts. Otherwise it has been normal wear items such as brakes (pads and rotors), shocks, tires, inner and outer tie rods.

Surprised you have made it to 320K with original water pump / cooling system parts.

Right before the alternator went out, I was openly wondering when something like a starter, water pump or alternator would go out. After the alternator went out, we went in and ordered a 2023 Off-road. It’s one thing for stuff to go out on me, but I can’t have it happen to my wife. We’ll keep the 2014 for use at our Montana place.

Still hovering around 250k now that my DD is the Land Cruiser. No major issues or replacements yet, replaced the belt a couple weeks ago for the heck of it.

Stumbled across this...are you saying that if you go up to a Toyota parts counter and ask for a set of pads, you may not get OEM? I did a search and only found threads about aftermarket pads.

141k on my 2011. Drives like a dream but it has the 4runner “whine”. Almost sounds like a Ford power steering pump.

Yeah my 2014 SR5 has developed the “whine” at around 135k miles. This has me really worried, almost sounds like a supercharger but I’m being told it’s a “normal” noise which I find hard to believe but it’s still super smooth. I’ve always thought a whine means something serious like a torque converter or timing chain wear issue? Do others have a whining noise with their higher mileage 4Runners???

I'm at 211,000 miles on my 2012 TE, bought new.

19.2 mpg mixed driving
3rd set of tires
3rd set of brake pads
3rd windshield
Replaced PCV valve 3 times as PM
Cleaned OCV screens as PM
Cleaned MAF and throttle body recently
Front wheel bearings around 160k
Sway bar bushings around 140k
Rear hatch struts at some point i cant remember
I put rotors on all 4 corners after my first set of pads went over 100k. I was paranoid they were worn and didn't feel like getting them measured or machined.

Runs great.

OCV screens? Not familiar with this I think it’s the first time I’ve seen someone discuss this…hate not doing everything preventative maintenance. What does this help with or prevent?? Thanks.
