Not true.

If you can find a totalled 4WD Runner or a Taco, the swap isnt hard to do.

You need the transmission, front diff, knuckles, and CV, driveshafts.

My truck was 2wd, and I converted to 4WD for 1500. BUT, I bought a WHOLE truck. the only thing it was missing was the rear axle. Had the rims. seats, dash, EVERYTHING.

Search the JY, Pull-a-parts, CL.

You want to avoid doing a SAS on a DD.

How difficult is it to swap out the coils? Worth doing myself or should I just pay someone? I heard struts can be a nightmare

Well at that point I'd have a car as well to drive, but whats wrong with a SAS on a DD? And Id love to do a tundra v8 swap and grab the tranny out of that and use tundra parts on the 4runner, If that seems to make sense. lol

There's nothing wrong with SASing for a DD, it'll just be a harsher ride than the IFS.

I know quite a few people that have done SASs, and, while they're usually better on trails, on the road it's a bit of a hit or miss. ONE wrong thing can make that SASd DD into a trailer queen.

Look at [MENTION=59542]Singtoe[/MENTION]'s V8 swap. He used one out of a Sequoia, but it's the same motor in those generations.
