Highest Mileage 4th Gen?

'06 with 91k. Since I'm about to hit 100k, I wanted to know if there was any maintenance that I must look into. I do a lot of driving. I'm in sales and do about 30k-40k a year. It runs great. Just want it to stay that way. Normally I would trade this in for a lower mileage one but thought I would see what I can get out of it. What do you suggest?

90k --> timing belt change, drive belt

optional --> water pump

...this is not cheap.

What would you suggest checking for when purchasing a 120k+ 4runner? Besides the timing belt, are there any major items that go out? I figure, because of that maintenence, a 140k T4R can technically be in better mechanical condition than a 90k T4R thats about to hit that service interval...and thousands cheaper. I'm in the market.

My '07 V8 is pushing 113k. Still doing well...probably needs shocks, springs, struts replaced..perhaps OME lift from ToyTec will do the trick. Has the typical T4R "clunk" when I come to a stop. Gas mileage is still very good. Great vehicle w/ no complaints. :biggrin2:

just check for all service records and do an inspection while driving to insure all windows work and that no lights are coming on. if 4wd make sure it shifts into 4wd high if its a v6 and 4 low for v6 and v8 also make sure center diff locker works. best thing to do if your not very familiar with a vehicle is to get your mechanic or someone you trust to look at it.

as for the example you gave that could very well be true. i wouldnt hesitate buyin a 140k mile one that has been well maintained versus a 90k mile one... plus as you said it will be cheaper

hmmm dont know about a typical t4r clunk????? i have heard of 3rd gens doing it but not until like 170k miles

2003 4Runner

We are at 247968 on our 2003 SR5 4WD 4Runner V6.

All parts original except spark plugs, brake pads, tires, fluids, battery and the console climate control (my wife spilled a coke into it).

My serpentine belt still looks like it only has 20k miles on it. I'm afraid to change it. It's like I got a magic belt.

O2 Sensors finally crapped out a couple months ago and changing them is on my to-do list. My wife was told by a mechanic at a brake shop Friday that the pad shoes were grinding on the rear rotor and it (and the pads of course) needed to be replaced. Turns out he was 100% full of it. So make that still on original brake disks, too. When I change pads later this week, I'll measure them to be sure they are still above minimum thickness but eyeballing them they still look good.

I have 4runner 2003 v8 4.7l have 330000km 205000 miles good condition, original part.
I change timing belt and water pump at 229000km year 2007.

Apologies... missing from the initial post is 1) the fact it's a V6 and 2) that I obviously meant serpentine/accessory belt and not timing belt. *sigh* what I can say, I'm an idiot
