My 07 SE V6 2wd has 213k have done nothing but brake rotors, pads, plugs, fluid changes and transmission flush, even have the XREAS, and zero rust as its never seen snow here in California maybe why never had to deal with caliper replacements...my 97 4cyl 4 speed i ran through 2 transmissions and burned valve at 335k, this one has been more reliable..

I second that. I see lots of people using them as family vehicles in the more northern areas I've been to. Not everyone takes care of their vehicle like enthusiasts do, especially the underside. Mine was previously used as a family vehicle in a more northern state. Not too crusty underneath and I make sure to wash after salted roads, but I plan on doing a full POR15 undercoating this summer to prolong the life.

My 2005 SR5 has 150,000 miles and not a speck of rust on the body.
The under frame has mostly superficial rust.
A few "flakes" off the front cross bar right after the radiator - but this bar is over an inch thick
I sprayed it with Corrosion X a few years ago - and it turned black
Been garaged and driven two blocks from the ocean here in the Bahamas

Gasket was like $50. cost a couple hundred to install it. Did pcv valce at the same time.

Front ball joints at 210,000
ABS sensors and a harness on the drivers side....that was the problem
pass. side rear wheel seal at 210,000
numerous exterior bulbs
plugs at 190,000
LED upgraded interior lights...makes the world of difference
It lived in Maine then moved to Montana when I bought it.
Been great and plan on keeping it but wouldn't mind a 2020!

This is the exact configuration that I'm looking for after I get rid of my Touareg. Love seeing all of these higher mileage 4runners. Definitely makes me feel more comfortable about picking up a 150k mile + 4th gen as a daily driver!
Just rebuilt a blown 2003 with a friend of mine. Truck has 330K, “new” motor installed at a local shop is 156K. Truck is a 2003 Limited 4WD V8, really the only place the body shows it’s age is the leather, and I just had to replace the radiator as it was ruined when the old motor overheated.
How much fun was that job?
