I remember seeing a video of a 4runner reaching 600,000 miles. Unfortunately I can't find the video anymore for me to post that video link on here

Right there is a perfect start to a no f***s given rock crawling bush buggy. Never worry about scratches and every body panel is already dented anywayThese vehicles have taught me that the general conception of "how long a car/engine can last" is nonsense.
Properly maintained, there really is no reason for a vehicle to not crest 200k or even 300k. I think people just hear the big numbers and think "oh shit", but also... Most people don't take care of anything they own and its really sad.
There's some kind of a weird family but I learned about recently at my mechanics' shop. I saw a poorly maintained land cruiser with 3 tires that had EXPOSED STEEL BELTS. Body damage, gross interior. The works. When I inquired about it, they told me that the family that owns it are these wierd shitty people who never do any maintenance. "They don't believe in oil changes or new tires". So whenever a vehicle fails, or the tires go bad, they try to get it all done for free/warranty and after that they just buy another car.
I could tell my mechanic does not like to deal with them, and that it is one of those "ugh..." things.
Anyway, so this Land cruiser wouldn't start anymore on top of that. Also... They drove it in as you see it in the photo.

350K and just got a Huge win !
Just hit the 350k mark in Salt lake city ! and Just had Twins! 28 weeks early so, we are going to be putting on some heavy miles for the next 12 weeks till they can come home ! Just replaced the master brake cylinder and front pads. Running Good !

Honestly that depends on how you take care of it. If you replace consumable items like shocks and bushings, they should ride smooth forever.

I'm thinking my bushings/shocks must be bad. Mine bounces around and just feels loose in the back end in general.

Are you lifted in the rear? If so, or either way is your panhard bar level with the ground? If it isn't level these trucks will feel "loose" in the back.
There is a forum member who sells a panhard back correction kit that can fix this.
There is one in CA with over 720k 5 clutches and one head gasket done. Might even be in this thread somewhere..

I would adopt that land cruiser and give it a better life...
your point about maintenance is so true. most people simply don't care about their vehicles. many see it as a means for transportation and nothing more - "why put money in something that only depreciates?" it's these people that then complain that their cars break down every 3-4 years. it's a short term mindset, just because something depreciates that doesn't mean you can't extend its useful life with regular upkeep
I know many people that have never washed and waxed their vehicles. it may seem like such a trivial thing to do - but put a car that has been washed and waxed at least once a year for 10 years beside a car that hasn't at all and I bet you'd be able to tell the difference real quick
the little things add up especially over many many years. I feel like people that buy 4runners generally care about their vehicles more than the average person which is partly why you see so many high mileage ones around
