Hilux Surf Rear Bumper Protector

Is this the thing that goes on top of the rear bumper to "protect" it? If so it is just a thin sheet of metal attached to the bumper with doublesided tape. I doubt it really offers much protection...

I have it installed. It gives the back a really nice look. Yeah it's a little expensive but I didn't buy it to protect anything. It is however only installed with double sided tape.

Any issues with it coming loose when you wash the truck or when it gets wet?

No issues what so ever with it coming loose. I've had it over a year now and it's survived a winter.

I love this thing. No problem loosening at all. Actually I kinda doubt I could get it off without some serious effort. The metal (Brushed Aluminum) is relatively thick, but I didn't buy it for protection.

I highly recommend it....if you like the door sills also...same type of thing, but on the exterior.

Install is super easy.....being careful to line it up correct is the only challenge...I think I pulled the tape halfway off, lined it up, attached a little and then removed the rest of the tape.

Good Luck and enjoy. Oh, I've had mine for quite a while now and it seems to be holding up great.

I see some 4Runners on the road with the silver strip down the center of the rear (and front) bumper.

I think what you are refering to is simply paint on those 4runners. Certain years and models had that coloring. For example, my 2003 limited has it and the color matches the running boards and the roof racks.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you are referencing.

After taking a closer look at newtoyotaparts, I saw what I was confused about. This part just cover the top lip....like the stock part does...only in stainless.
