I have been reading all the threads about HIR headlight replacements. Just to confirm from someone that has done this - I need the set of 9011s and the set of 9012s for full replacement of hi/lo beam headlights. Correct?
no. you can modify a 9011 HIR to replace your OEM 9005 high beam. you can modify a H9 to replace your OEM H11 low beam. be super super sure your headlights are aimed properly so that you don't blind oncoming drivers—especially since you're lifted.
I had H9's in for my H11's (low beam) and it was a cheap way to get more light. Drove that way for quite some time with no flashes, but I could tell more light was bleading up. I actually just took them out and went back to stock because of my lift, well and because I have a Rigid SR20 going into the front grill on top of some Amber spots so I feel I'm covered for extra light.
Thank you for the feedback guys! I gotta laugh at myself for reading thread after thread about these lights and still coming away with the wrong answer!
Yah HIR 9011s for the Highs. Much brighter, and I have had the same pair of bulbs in two consecutive cars without issue. You just have to trim the base in order for them to fit. Takes about 30 seconds with a pair of nail clippers.
