hey just an FYI, the taco parts are cheaper than the 4runner parts, just throwing that out there. i havent seen pics yet but im gonna guess that your gonna have to tear all that stuff off anyways. i wouldnt be surprised if your core support was damaged a little too. so just something to think about

I just threw some pics up on the third post. It doesn't seem that bad all things considered. I'll probably scrap the limited trim and bedline it....seems it will be easier and cheaper to rid myself of that trim. I'll just have to see what a body shop will charge to pull the dents. At the same time I'll be checking for replacement parts to weigh my options.

wow it surprisingly does not look that bad, i was thinking a lot worse, you must have just caught the edge of the deer... yeah your hood isnt that bad and i dont see your core support being damaged much if at all. and it looks like it just got the drivers side? so idk i think it would be a real toss up, but if you did want to do the change, now would be the time.

Been looking through some junkyard parts. Not sure if I'm going with the tacoma fenders or a 4runner fender.

If I do end up going with Tacoma fenders I'm left with a few problems.

Will they match up with the 4runner headlights I just ordered?
Was the same emerald green used on 96-98 Tacomas as 96-98 4runners?
Do I have to use the 4x4 model Tacoma fenders or will 4x2's match up as well? I'm sure the Prerunners will be the same as the 4x4 but I'm just not sure about the low riding 4x2 models.

So I found a used fender in pretty good condition. Only problem is it has a sport flare and not a limited. It's my understanding that the limited flare has more attachment points and probably won't work on this fender unless I drill some holes which I probably wouldn't go through the trouble of doing.

If anyone has knowledge that I can get a 96 limited flare to work with the holes in a 96 SR5 fender please let me know.

Sorry, not much info on the fender but I believe you are correct in saying they won't match up.

Funny story, only in South Carolina. My uncle's friend goes deer hunting, sits all day in a stand, no deer. Driving home in his F150 he managed to hit a 10 point buck. How he managed to get 200+ pound deer in the back of the truck, I have no idea. Being a tig welder, he had a custom built bumper and brush guard that only had the paint taken off of it. He still has the antlers. Tough old Ford trucks.

My most serious damage would have been taken care of if I had only built my bumper already. It would have kept the sheet metal off my tire and I'd still have a functioning headlight.

Went by a junkyard in Columbus, Ga today and got a champagne replacement fender, no flare. They said they had a black limited fender in nice condition but turned out it was a black SR5 with a dent :nono: so I settled on the champagne. I knew my core support was damged a little but it was worse than I thought. I spent about 30 minutes trying to massage it back into place. It's close but still a little off which I'll continue tomorrow.

I'm kinda diggin the no flare look though. Anybody want some limited flares???? lol

On another positive note my 99 cerifit headlights came in today. They look impressive and for $48.75 ea they aren't bad looking at all especially when they come with bulbs already in them.

I just bought bulbs a couple weeks ago and happened to keep the pack because I put the unblown old bulb back in there for back up. I bought a new one today anticipating the new headlight would need one. And since it didn't, needless to say, I'll be returning those things and getting my $20 back. :guitar2:

Did a little work this morning in the rain. Got the Depo 99-02 headlights in and tried to straighten the core support a little more for better fitment of the color matched :biggrin2: fender and corner lights. It's still a little off but much better than it was.

I still have some work to do for the doors but they open and close fine now that the bent fender is off. The bumper is on just for looks and holding the turn signals. I'll hopefully be able to build a new one in the next couple weeks but this is how it sits now.

Another thing to note is that the Raptor bedliner held up to the hit and the bending and flexing of the bumper. I sprayed it directly over the chrome with only running a wire cup brush over it to scuff things up....very impressed with how it held up.
