Now I should probably address the now 'overdue' 90k service. I use a 3rd party mechanic who I asked to price out the parts. He said I was crazy paying the extra $$ to get the Toyota branded water pump, timing belt, pulleys, & thermostat. Thoughts? Would anyone mix and match Toyota/Aftermarket for this service?

Nope. You'd be crazy not to go with Toyota OEM parts.

Go to ebay and check out a timing kit sold by Volkstoy. Everything is OEM and it is right at 300 bucks shipped. That's what I used when i did mine a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. When you expect components to go another 100k, you don't want to skimp on parts.

It depends on the aftermarket part. Personally I don't buy my aftermarket parts from places like ADAP or Advance Auto...I've found their parts cheap. Here in NH we some good local parts stores that carry quality parts and have very knowledgeable workers.

I've found that good quality aftermarket parts are as good or better then many OEM parts...Even Toyota/Nissan and Honda parts.

Toyota does NOT make timing belts or drive belts or hoses. So why pay the markup price the dealer charges.

Upper Radiator Hose Qty 1
Lower Radiator Hose Qty 1
Toyota Long Life 50/50 Engine Coolant Qty 1 Gal

Worth the extra $115 to do at the same time?
