Hitchgate V. New Rear Bumper

AN 93, that picture is not a great one, but I think that is a CBI offroad bumper, and it's quite expensive at $1,399.00 but here is a link:

They also have two different "hitch" carriers ranging from $190.00 to $350.00. As far as which setup is "better", well that is preference. Obviously there is a huge price differential which makes your budget situation critical. The offroad bumper can carry spare fuel cans and High-Lift jack in addition to the spare, however, it is a very heavy bumper and thus stiffer rear coils might be recommended. Personally, I will probably get the bumper when the wife gives me the official "okie dokie", so I am jaded.

Just go for a bumper. You know you want it anyway, so why buy a tire carrier and then find a need for a steel bumper? Haha

it'd give you the same look for a much cheaper price (note though this will not fold so you'd need to remove the Curt part to open the rear hatch (kinda a pain in the a$$) and you'd also need to find a way to relocation the license plate to remain legal. (if you're worried about that sort of thing)....
just another option. If you're in and out of the trunk alot I'd go with the cbi fold down AND if you do any sort of off roading where departure angle is a concern, I'd just go with the bumper as any hitch mounted spare tire carrier will limit your departure angle even more than stock...

I'm looking for a similar solution but leaning towards the Hitchgate.
Reasons:
1. Cost (Hitchgate is roughly 1/3 the cost of a CBI bumper with swingouts)
2. Removability: I would only need the hitchgate when traveling off-road with bigger tires (I have two sets of wheels/tires). Removability also gives me the option of using it on another vehicle if I wish.
3. Weight.
I was skeptical of the Hitchgate but a few years ago I went 'wheeling in Death Valley (2011) and then in Moab (2012) with a guy running a Hitchgate on a regular cab Ranger and a 1st gen Explorer (same hitchgate on both trucks) and he had no problems or issues whatsoever.
