I plan to install a HO alternator in my 1992 4-Runner for my audio system. There is a fuse in the fuse box under the hood which is labeled "Alt 80A". What exactly is this fuse for? I had first thought it was for the alternator, but the car audio folks I've asked said it wasn't and that there should not be any inline fuse between the battery and alternator.
The manual says this fuse is for the starting system and a few other things. Is this an "alternate" fuse? I'm lost on this one.
