So is this area open again then?

I was going to take the buddies out there this past weekend, but everything I had read online led me to believe that it was still "indefinitely closed."
(Due to to unsafe wet conditions after the fires last summer)

The front part of it is open and there's still plenty to do in the riverbed (assuming there's not too much water) and along the side. There is a gate about half way back that leads to the hiking trail that's closed due to mud slides that made the road impassiable. Its still fun to go and screw around down there if you're not too experienced or you just want an easy trail to go ride

What "front" part are you talking about. I've been there twice and the only gate that I''ve came across is the one right before the trail. If the front part you are talking about is still open, can we still get to the "puddle" spot?

There is a gate about mile 3 on the trail which is also about the mid point. That is the gate that is closed. Yes you can still get to the mud puddle and jeep hill (the big dirt hill on your left right after the air strip)

OH NICE. I never been past that mid-point then. That gate has always been locked. I guess I have another trail to explore. Thanks for the info.

Cool cool. Thanks for the heads up. During the first rain closures (December) after the fires, they had a cop stationed at the parking area just off of Live Oak....and they were only letting residents in. Good to hear they're allowing people past that point again.
