Homelink Garage Door Opener wiring diagram?

Do you mean from the remote? As in pressing AUX and the garage opens?

Or you're going to rig something to press the button for you?

Why not just use the Homelink to open your garage door?

That is what I do when I am in the car but once I have exited the car it would be nice to close thae garage door behind me with my Viper remote.

One thing to note is that my garage is detached from my house so I would prefer to see the garage close instead of going inside, getting the garage door remote, walking outside, making sure it is closed, then returning the garage door remote.

First i have to reminisce a bit here ... Avital/Clifford actually offered a part for this that tied into the actual garage door inside the garage. Then the vehicle didn't even need to be present.

I have actually done this in the past though. All i did was used a relay to trigger the remote. This wasn't on a home link, just a regular garage remote, so what i did was un-soldered the button and ran it to a relay and used the alarm or an optional button inside the car to trigger the relay. You should be able to do the same thing w/ the home link. Take the visor apart, and tie into the button itself. You will want to run each side of this to a relay (terminals 30 and 87) then 85 will be your alarm trigger wire, and 86 will be your fused +12v.

If you want to find the wiring diagram, search the Toyota TIS site ... it will cost you a couple $'s but for the rest of the install, it might be help full. The stereo installer guides out there are not the best route to take for the 4runner.

I'll try that this weekend, thank you! and they do still make the garage door interface but its $175 street price, plus I would have to buy a $75 SST antenna as well. I figured it was worth a shot to use the remote I already had in the car. :bigok:

only thing i didn't think about is you may have to change power from the homelink to constant if it only works when vehicle is on. I don't remember, the one in my Lexus doesn't seem to want to program to the newer garage door openers, so its been a while since i've used it.

It is wired constant from the factory, but the remote will activate the ACC lead when outputting from the AUX channels. This is needed to activate the sunroof and the rear window.

I took off the cover and found the buttons but I will need to get to the back of the circuit board so I can solder the wires I need to the back of the button. Does anyone have any ideas or know how to remove the homelink circuit board from the visor?

Also, I am assuming the power wires for the homelink run through the visor post, hopefully I can run more wires through it.
