Where have most of you gotten your homelink? Is there an on-line vendor or do I need to go to my dealer? Thanks in advance.

Partznet here as well. Ordered on-line, arrived in a couple of days.

Installed in a couple of minutes. Works great.

Got mine at the dealer. They came close to the online price and sales taxes were about the same as shipping.

How hard was it to install ? What's involved ? I have sunroof, does that make any difference ?
 
Just order the proper one.. I have a sunroof.. came with a new sunroof switch along w/ the homelink buttons! Well worth the cost. You pretty much pry out the old switch, remove the connector, replace the connector on the new switch and pop it back into the roof. Programming takes about 20-30 seconds. Instructions here:

Installation is nothing! Your pretty much just swap the old one with the new. It is the darned programming that took me a long time. I ended up erasing all of the other vehicles in my house while programming mine.

If installation takes more than 2 minutes, something is wrong. I installed and programmed the Homelink (not rolling codes) in about 60 seconds while the dealer service manager took a quick call. He came out, I was done and ready to roll.

If only all mods were this easy to do.
 
There are two versions for each color . Each color (tan or grey) has the button for the sunroof and one that doesn't.


Installation is easy. Just grap the front edge (closest to windshield) and pull down firmly. There's two clip that will pop out and the back edge is held by three hooks.

Unplug the wire harness and plug in new unit. Install by placing back edge in and snap front edge back into holes.

Programming is simple, and covered in the owners manual. Yeah it took me longer to program than to install. My finger was getting numb waiting for the light to blink faster :D

Installation was mostly easy, as others have described above, pop out the old one, pop in the new one.

My only problem happened when I popped the front of the old unit out, one of those &@*#&*! metal spring clips popped off and fell up inside the support beam in the roof. Not wanting to leave something in my truck that may cause an irritating rattle, I spent about 10 minutes trying to get it out.

I was finally able to delicately fish it out of there with a small adhesive-backed magnet stuck to the end of a medium zip tie.

I looked like I was playing that old Operation game, carefully trying to get it through the hole far enough to get a needle-nose pliers on it without touching the side. :p

I got it from Partznet too and it also took me only about 5 min to complete. Make sure you push it up tight where the velcro is though. Mine was rattling for a week before I thought to do that. Now it doesn't make a peep. I know, Duh!
 
I also obtained mine from Partznet. Called around inquiring one from other dealers and they said they could not get me one.

Also, I will attest to the difficulty of the metal clips. I had one left up in the roof that took me thrity minutes to fish out.

Other than that, piece of cake.
 
Has anyone installed Homelink using a Sears Craftsman rolling code GDO ? I have lost the instructions for my GDO and don't know which buttons to press to enable learning the new transmitter.

I don't have craftsman but there was only one bright orange button to push on my openers.
 
I do not have a Craftsman opener either, but mine only had one training button on my garage door opener that was used to program the homelink.

I don't recall that mine had any -- just pull out the old, pop in the new.
