Hood Louvers

Lets see some photos! I just developed a set, takes up about 3/4 hood on either side of where the hood scoop is, but I want to see what everyone else has done for theirs. I don't care if it's for looks or functionality, I just wanna see what people have done!

I did hood louvers/vents on a previous 4wd once. Never again. When ever I'd drive through a big puddle or bog hole, steam would come gushing through the vents and onto the windscreen and sometimes reduce visibility to zero.

Yeah, don’t think I’d want louvers on a 4x4 either. I did them once long ago on a Jeep Cherokee, but they liked to run hot...even then I don’t think they helped. My ‘yota never runs hot, though.

I haven't done anything but make them.

How did you make them? Looks like you cut them on one side and somehow formed them letting the other side just roll up.

These look good on FJ's. I mocked them up on my truck a while back.

I think you're going to get a lot of rain water on stuff that should stay dry on the left side. Fuse box and harness, ABS electronics, alternator...

They are away from the battery, the fuse box has a lid on it for a reason. They aren't functional yet. I get more water in my engine bay from not having splash guards and fender liners than anything else.

HOT DAMN. THAT THING IS TOUGH! Do you have a Build Thread? cause your TR4 is badassss

I think it looks pretty cool, especially since they are homemade. If I were to do them, I would probably have them punched on a louver press though to avoid the sharp points, and add structural integrity, but the ones you did definitely add to look of your truck.

Here are the louvers I had punched in stainless for my ‘65 Cobra replica.

Looks good. I wasn't sure how the riveted look would work, but it fits in well with the style of your truck.

These are the vents I used years ago. They were fiberglass and came from a Ford Cosworth. I glued them on.

What CSX# is your Cobra? Running a 302 or 429? Helped a friend in CA restore his original back in the day for his collection. I'd sell my organs to buy his.

It was a Factory 5 Racing replica, so no CSX number. It had a built 5.0/302 with aluminum Edelbrock heads and dual quads. I sold it to a guy in Germany several years back. Really regret selling it, but needed the capital at the time to buy my Terminator and some other stuff.
