Hood protector for 2016 4Runner...

My Google-fu isn't working today. I'm finding too many results, with not enough details to know what I'm getting (black vs clear, the actual protector or just a "hardware kit", and some sites don't even show the 4Runner, they show pictures of other vehicles).

Also the prices are all over the place.

My dealer just quoted me $148, and said it would be a special order. Sounded odd to me.

What I want...

• Prefer Toyota vs aftermarket, assuming the quality will be better, and the styling will match better.
  
• Black/smoke.

If anybody finds any links please post them. Would also appreciate pictures if you have one on yours.

I assume you're talking about a bug deflector? Can't speak to other brands but this is what've had for a few years andit's held up great and looks good.

I have the avs one. I think they make like 3 versions. I have the tallest one available. It super easy to install. Probably take like 5 minutes to install.

This^. Love the look, easy install, and helps keep most projectiles off your hood (but not off the windshield, unfortunately..)

Also doesn't work worth a damn. I had mine since I bought it. 50,000 miles later I decided to just get rid of it.

If you like the look of them, go for it.

If you're expecting it to actually deflect bugs or anything else, don't bother.

I've always removed them if they came on a vehicle I purchased. I had two Suburbans that had them and couldn't tell the difference with and without. Also, I would rather wash the bugs off the window more often than deal with the appearance issues (subjective, I know), washing under them, etc. I keep a roll of Bounty paper towels and a can of Stoners in the back. 2 minutes and a clean windshield.

Turns out I like the look of the Toyota hood protector. Subtle difference, but the ends are less rounded, and do not extend beyond the width of the hood.

And the Smithtown NY dealership by me had them on sale! Still pricey at $95, but might as well get the one I like.

Not only do I like the way the hood protectors look... but this one is going to cover a small chip in the paint. Guess I should have bought it sooner!

I bought this one at the time I purchased my T4R in Nov 13.
Just replaced it with a new one just like it for obvious reasons. (I like the looks of it better than others)

i think they work in protecting the edge of the hood from rock chips, which was a constant problem on my previous cars which didn't have the bug guards.

I also like the unibrow style.
