Has anyone seen an available (polycarbonate )hood protector for the 2010 4Runner yet? I received an accessories brochure in the mail from Toyota showing one but my local dealer doesn't see it as being available yet, part #PT427-89100. I inquired to Lund awhile back and they said they won't have one until at least March.

Toyota OEM hood protector
I purchased the Toyota Hood protector from Heninger in calgary, about 130$ CDN. They also wanted 92.50$ to install it. I tried to do it myself but no instructions and about 50 pieces to try and figure out. In the end I took it to Canyon Creek Toyota and they did it for 50$. I would also recommend Tinting Illusions of Calgary for 3M protection of bumpers, mirrors and hood. If anyone has the instructions on how to install the Hood Protector I would appreciate a copy to be posted. If I ever decide to remove it I would like to have something to reference a reinstall.

That's a great price including installation. I already got the 3M done for the entire front, mirrors and rocker panels. Still waiting for mudflaps and window visors though.
Can't help you with posting a copy but if you'll look at the link that nashman69g posted earlier - nashman69g's hard work - I think you can find what you want. You need to download and extract the 'misc.zip' file and then look in the resulting "Accessories Installation" folder.

Salesperson at Canyon Creek recommended The Car Guys. He called them up for me and got a quote. I believe I paid $800 for all of the 3M. They are located on Bannister Rd, just behind Totem.

Sorry.....I don't know anything about Titing Illusions. The reason I went with The Car Guys was because they were referred to me by someone at Canyon Creek Toyota. Turns out their pricing was better than anything else I could find at the time also. I called around quite a bit and got a lot of $1000 - $1300 quotes. Cheapest I got was $900 from The Detail Guys on Macleod Trail.
The Car Guys was $800 which included the front bumper, hood, mirrors and rocker panels. They did a great job and it took them most of the morning to complete.
No mudflaps yet. There is a thread on this forum and some people have just gotten some Husky mudflaps. Just waiting to hear how the install goes, then I'll probably order some pronto. I also want the window visors but can't find those yet either.
I did keep the stock lights.....what about you? I know many are disappointed that this vehicle didn't come with zenon (sp?) headlights, but I'm not really too concerned about that. As long as I can see where I'm going at night, then it's all good.
:I am going to go to Canyon Creek and get the hood deflector installed right away though. Not sure if it will do anything at this point as I already have the 3M, but I like the look of them.
I'll keep you posted if I find out anything about the mudflaps.
Oh....one more thing.....what do you think of the running boards? I think they're cheap crap. Mine are already scratched and they are slippery as heck in the winter when covered in slush/snow. Will probably be replacing those before the next snow fall, which considering where we live, could be any day now.

lnterested....Again we ask...Could you possibly show us some pics of what the Toyota hood protector looks like? I never heard of a hood protector that is 50 pieces.
There is a dealer in Vancouver we could order it from and they ship to the states if one can't be ordered here.

F8 Not sure you caught my details on the 4R, I have a sliding cargo deck on a Limited. This is not a CDN model. I purchased it in Texas via a fella I bumped into who brings cars into canada from the USA when the dollar is high. I have no running boards so I can't comment on how good/bad they are. I had running boards on my 96 Tahoe and liked them, but the 4R seems lower entry and other than protecting paint I don't think I need them...thus the mud flaps.. I haven't changed my lights but have been thinking about it. I changed them in the Tahoe and on my bike. At night the more light the better especially west of here. I only have 1200 miles, oops 1980 km on it so far. Hasn't seen a winter in rock town yet.

I don't have pictures of it but the post below is the one i have. The pieces I refer to (sorry not being too clear) are the washers plugs, 8 screws, 8 brackets, pop screws, and tape and bumpers..hope i didn't miss anything. The main problem I encountered was which part goes with which. They seem to mingle quite well. When I finally thought I had it beat i was concerned about the 2 pieces on the wings of the deflector and opted to have toyota do it. I thought if they scratch the paint or do it wrong its warrantied, but if I do it without instructions I have no recourse.

Yes, thats the one. It has 8 attachment points. 4 in the centre over the Toyota emblem. The 2 on each wing are (4 in total) the ones that bothered me, assuming I had their pieces together properly. I was concerned even with the tape provided that in time vibration would wear out the tape and start on the paint. Maybe I am being too fussy.
