Who makes a scoop hood for the 1996 4runner? I found a very expensive carbon fiber one but have only found non scoop hoods for the 4runner.

will a 1996 Tacoma scoop hood fit the 1996 4runner?

I am replacing my fenders in preparation for a total chaos long travel kit and need a new hood as previous owner dented the very middle of it and figured id replace it all at the same time.

Prefer fiberglass I guess but a Steel hood is fine. need it to mount to the factory hinges but if fiberglass front mounting on hood pins is ok.

*edit my current hood has the scoop on it. I assume its stock? if its stock why can I not find one to replace it?

The only options are aftermarket OEM replacements made by various companies, finding an OEM for sale, or shelling out the cash for a carbon fiber one. Keep in mind, most aftermarket ones don't come with the hood scoop insert, which for some reason usually costs more than the hood itself (makes no sense to me).

A tacoma hood will not fit ours without changing out a few other things (fenders, grille, headlights, side markers, etc..)

1996 - 2002, all years of the 3rd gen.

The hood scoops were a modestly rare option on 99-02 4Runners.

As stated above, all years between '96-'02 are interchangeable.

meaning a 2001 / 02 hood will line up with my 1996 grille and head lights or would I have to replace that stuff as well?

If your 96 has a scoop then it was added by a previous owner as no 96 (at least US version) ever came with a factory hood scoop.

It should line up just fine. The lights – and I think even the grills are interchangable for all year 3rd gen 4runners (1996-2002)

Nearly the entire front clip of the 3rd gen 4Runners are interchangeable, aside from the fat-lip bumper (started in '99) which require a little work to get to on.

An aftermarket steel hood with scoop cut out is around $100. They come primered. Then insert the scoop from your hood if its still good. Otherwise they're $150 from the dealer. I know of no aftermarket scoops.

If I had to do it again I'd buy an OEM hood from the junkyard & paint it. The quality of the steel is much better.

thanks guys, I might do some junkyard searching but if all else fails there is a certifit an hour away ill probably go down there and get a reproduction steel hood and use my existing scoop and insert stuff.

the entire 4runner could use a paint job so paint match at the moment isn't a big deal.

150????? Holy damn here in canada if I wanted an OEM hood scoop swap it would be at least 650 ish
