Hood scoop for $160. Too good to be true?

Just found a local shop posting this on craigslist:
"I am selling a brand new hood with a scoop, its an OEM Replacement part, made direct bolt on, and its made of galvanize steel same material as OEM. I also warranty and guarantee it to fit"

I've seen these go for $300+ used. Is this for real at $160???

Doesn't have the insert. That's another $150. I doubt it's OEM. Looks like a certifit hood someone is trying to get 100% mark up on. They retail for $80.

But heck, if it is OEM that would be a hell of a deal. I highly doubt it though.

Yep, you're right. Not OEM, but said it was made as a direct replacement and made out of galvanized steel (like the one's from Toyota). These are usually sold for $80?

I just put one on. Fit great paid $117 to my door. The expensive part it the scoop insert.

Fits ok, gaps aren't perfect. Steel is thinner than Toyota.

Just a tip - the bulge is the same one fitted on the Rav4 2000-2005. It can be found on Ebay and in junkyards. It is best to look on crashed Rav4, where the hood is damaged but the bulge is intact.

Certifit is always referred as ‘Sort of fit’ in the body shop world. But they can be handy if you need a cheap bumper for a beater car. I went through 3 certifit bumpers in my 00 Camry. I kept ramming snow banks with it, lots of fun! I paid $100 for a used sport hood with no damage and I paid $80 for another that has the worst paint job I’ve ever seen. Deals are out there.

I mean, yes and no.
You can get LBJ's for like $25/ea- does that make them a good deal? Granted, the hood isn't gonna cause your knuckle/wheel to buckle and risk lives.
Point is, 99% of aftermarket body parts are inferior to OEM parts. Usually thinner, harder to fit/line up, and making the gaps look right is a balancing act.
All that being said, the majority of people wont notice. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.
