A rack, LED bar, tent, container, lift, all affect much more the drag than the little tiny scoop. I would like to see wind tunel air flow lines above the hood to confirm what I believe. I suspect that the air deflected by the front bumper goes up and reach the top of the windshield and the scoop resides in an area where there is not such flow like a dead spot. In this case, its presence or not would not impact the drag coefficient.

watch your hood in a rainstorm, wind hits your hood

this is all a silly argument, of course the impact is tiny, but he wasn't wrong so your "source, numbers" response was silly
 
Jealous.... the Mazda3 has a functional hood scoop that's bigger than our fake one!

I 100% agree with you on that one. They're pretty simple to begin with, so spend money to make them have more options.
 
I just got a 2016 TEP and I really like the look of the hood scoop. I don't think there is any actual use of it. I'm neutral.
 
Hoods

I have to agree with John The Luck. The hood 'scoop/bulge' does little to help or hinder air flow. The '15 Wrangler JKU I traded in on the 4R had only two hefty rubber bands to hold it down. They didn't, and the hood used to vibrate like a sob at any highway speed, so I had the dealer install a not inexpensive hood lock. Not much better. I'll take the bulge on the 4r hood, for what it is/not worth any day. - Ted

Non-functional Hood Scoop Patent

Toyota actually has a patent on "non-functional hood scoops"

There was a video where the guy had explained that making the scoops functional on their particular vehicles would disrupt the air flow around the engine, in turn the cooling of the engine bay.
