Hood scoop question

Ah but I'm a trail, in an sr5 hood. I also gained 700 bucks by swapping hoods.

I think you just set a new world record for a Toyota hood swap profit! I swapped scoop for no scoop on my Tacoma Sport and got $100 or so worth of .45 ammo. $700 is insane!

I think the scoop is cool, they should have put them on all models, and this thread should not have been designated 5th gen...

it separates those of us that know how to work on rigs and install things on their own.... and TE owners that have to buy mods form the dealer already installed:hiding:

I wish i could afford those prices lol. Plus they can't guarantee the KDSS lean won't happen:hiding: at that point i might as well screw with it on my own.

Bingo.

I see lots of trails and millions of TRD pros.

I don't see any with scrapes on their sliders/skids (I don't see any with sliders or skids) or with aftermarket lighting or lifts/tires/wheels.

Of course I'm in FL where people look at me and go "Oh snap amigo, you got 4x4 in this baddy? You go to the beach a lot?"

Scrapes? I've never seen a rock on the Outer Banks beaches. Pebbles maybe, but no rocks in the past 45 years. Sliders are just dead weight to me. I'll probably take the running boards off when the weather warms for the same reason, although they do make cleaning snow off the roof a lot easier. My girlfriend is 5'4" and she just climbs over them.

I think of my rigid running boards as giant mud and gravel flaps. I'm lazy, maybe I'll leave them on. There's enough to do without making work.

Time to go prep my boat for fishing tomorrow and see if I can get an old power washer to run after years of sitting around. Hey, it was free. Maybe I'll hang it from the floor crane so I don't have to bend over to work on it.

I see the fake scoop as a throwback to Detroit Muscle... you know, before adding sliders, a roof rack, CBI rear, 3" of lift and 295s this puppy used to be responsive with you mashed the gas.

Another question, should there be a hood liner under the hood?

I was thinking about putting a LED bar in the scoop but was wandering if there was some way of making it functional or use full in some other way?

they started putting the liner in all models, but before it was just the limited (and maybe premium?). I think 2014 liner is limited only.

if you want to make the scoop functional, this is the only thing you should do:

I'm just bitter cause mines still stock. Too many build threads on here making me want Kings and methods :yo:

Patience... and read ALL the build threads. I put the trucks needs before wants... it's 4 years old and I'm finally getting around to the wants. Get it out and figure out what you need. You'll get there... and you'll love it even more.
