Hood with scoop

Just wondering where to go to pick up a hood with scoop for a metallic grey 2016. I've seen some possibilities on ebay, but thought I would check here first. Thanks

Oh here we go with the “why would anyone want that fake scoop” and “the glare off the fake scoop will instantly make you go blind” posts. Ignore them. If you want a hood with scoop you can (a) buy one through a dealership or (b) buy one on eBay. I bought one on eBay and had my dad paint it (he restores old cars as a hobby so has the equipment and know-how). Your next question will be: was the eBay hood any good? Answer: it’s perfectly fine.

Bonus answers so we don’t have to beat this to death again:
1. No... the scoop doesn’t have a function.
2. No... there doesn’t appear to be a way to make it have a function.
3. Yes... you will experience glare when heading into the sun at certain times of the day.
4. The eBay hood, plus extra gaskets that you’ll need, plus paint will cost about $1000.
5. Yes... the hood with the scoop is objectively more awesome than the hood without the scoop :-)

Ignore the angry old people. If a hood scoop (or some stickers) bring you joy, do it.

I read a quotation the other day that I think applies to the forum and the people that help out vs. those that throw barbs:

"I have learned that I am here on earth in order to help other people. What I still haven’t figured out is why the other people are here.”"

I have a hood scoop on my 2007 Sport and love the way it looks. Really Goes well with hood protector and spoiler.

Drove Tacoma’s for years and always wanted a scoop, but you have to get the sport, and I wanted the off-road. So now I get the best of both worlds.
:cool::cool::cool:

Try to google “4runners 5th gen hood swap”. A certain competitor website with 4runners in the name has a thread where members who want scoops trade with members who don’t. My impression is that you are on the wrong side of supply and demand, but maybe worth a try.

Go for the scoop. I like mine but it’s true, the setting sun glare is a real pain. I’m debating painting it a matte color vs vinyl wrapping it.

If I was buying a replacement hood with a scoop I'd be skipping trying to match the paint and go with a matte color.

the glare is a genuine problem and is going to drive you nuts so honestly, just wrap the whole thing matte black once you buy a scooped hood.
it will save you $$ over paint and make you happier overall
:)

Best post I have read in a long time

Find someone with a Trail/Offroad that will trade you, offer some cash to sweeten the deal. I couldn't stand the fake scoop on mine, traded it away and made a hundred bucks. Now I have more visibility, no glare, and I'm a hundred dollars richer. That's better than a codpiece on my hood any day of the week.

How would you determine "old people" from any of those statements?? If not for a hell of a lot of hard work here on this forum from "old people", must of young DB's would still be trying to figure out if your tires would rub.

Profile much?

Wearing polarized sunglasses all the time I wasn't aware of the glare until I read about it on T4R.org...
So no hood glare for me but on the other hand a harder to read center screen.

Why all the hate? Hood scoop on the 4runner looks cool. One of the reasons why I choose the Trail over the SR5 and Limited models.

Toyota installs functionless hood scoop from factory.

"WhIlE yOuR aT iT SlAp On SoMe TrD StIcKeRs"

Get yo hood scoop and enjoy the car, do you.
