Hoods

Are there any aftermarket hoods out yet with a scoop that will fit a 2007? I really wish that was an option on the limiteds and SR5's. Also have any of you gone the factory route and can comment on the price? I know its probably really high being OEM.

Thanks,
Major

I have a sport with the scoop and I know some dont like them but I like it alot and think the scoop looks damn cool. If I had a limited or and SR5 I probably would order a new scooped hood from a sport model.

Best to check with local dealer , shipping would be damn expensive if you bought it someplace else.

Aftermarket hoods can be a pain in the butt !! Most are fiberglass , shipping is expensive , prep work on the fiberglass is expensive since most are not primer/paint ready even though they say they are.

First hand knowledge on this from buying hoods for my old Stang.

I saw an aftermarket scoop on a SR5 in traffic. Looked like the stock SR5 hood with just a scoop installed on top of it. Didn't look as good as the OEM hood, but I'm sure its a cheaper solution. Don't know what brand or anything and I doubt it was 4Runner specific.

You might post in the classifieds and say you would be willing to trade your non scooped hood for one with a hood scoop.

I wish it was an option on the Limiteds too :(

best bet is to search the classifieds on here, and also check your local wrecking yards.

Oh, if you see a Sport in a parking lot, and see the driver. Ask if they want to trade hoods (lol)

you can just buy a scoop and stick it on the hood right?

Hahahahaha...uh yeah I guess that's one way to go about it.

Here's a better way...buy one on Ebay. I just saw an aftermarket one for under a $100. You'll need to buy the insulation, some more parts to finish up the hood scoop and get it primered and painted. Just type in "4Runner" and "2005" and you'll see it.

Yeah you can. I've seen it in person and it doesnt look as bad as it sounds. If you were just passing by you probably wouldnt notice a difference. If you buy an aftermarket sport hood on ebay there are extra hood parts not included you would have to buy that are not cheap plus getting it painted.

I actually bought a Sport Hood from this place:

Sport Hood

I don't know how competitive the pricing was, but I got a killer deal when I got it painted...FREE!....I send a local body shop a TON of business (auto insurance claims), and I've also had them work on a lot of my own personal stuff that I can't handle.

I installed it myself in an hour or so. The fit and finish were fine. You'd never know that it wasn't always on there.

Click the various links in my sig for pics.....

Man that rocks thanks for the link. Atleast i know about what i would be looking at money wise and free shipping. What did it run fo rthe other parts for it if you dont mind me asking? Also if you have the part numbers that would help out so those of us who want one know what all to get.

Thanks again,

Major

You already have the link I used for the hood.

Here's the link I used for the scoop and scoop-related parts.

Hood Scoop Parts

Again, I didn't check the pricing. I'm one of those people that buys what I need from the first place I check that has it....

I purchased every part listed that was scoop-related.
