Florida is still partying like it's 1999 so maybe the healthcare system advantage for FL vs Italy is a wash considering social distancing is a foreign concept to some there?

I have been stocking up for years on ammo and guns in preparation for the next price increase (ie: mass/school shooting, democrat in office, etc.). Buy it when it's cheap and store it away. Those buying now are simply reacting. It's too late.

RoyBell is right on the money and sounds like he timed things right. Ammo and firearms prices, until not too long ago, were rock bottom over a period of three years give or take. That was a very long period of time to buy low and prep but it seemed like the folks I knew who were panicking during the last mad rush lost interest after that crisis subsided and never replenished their stock. "That herd mentality".

Now, they may have gotten caught with their pants down when the pandemic started, along with the anti-gun folks, all wanting to buy at the same time again. On Monday, we went to our LGS here in CO to find out there is a 2.5 day wait for NICS background checks when it is usually a matter of minutes.

The folks in the store were beyond frustrated when they needed it NOW. Can't imagine how they feel back in CA with the 10-day wait especially the newbies who may or may not have voted for those laws and are now enlightened by the reality that awaits. FSC test, NICS background check for both ammo and firearm purchase, DROS and 10-day wait time. Oh wait, you needed it now? SURPRISE!

And then there's the lack of time for planning and training that should accompany any SD/HD tool. Nothing like learning trial by fire. :whipping2

As far as scenarios - there have been posts floating around on social media warning people not to open doors for guys in hazmat suits and masks posing as health dept workers. They've been robbing victims who answer/open the door. IIRC this was in Fresno but may want to fact-check in case it is a hoax. But not so much zombie apocalypse, for now, but in some areas, the thought is LEO will be busy with other priorities to respond to B&E, 211, etc. Pretty much on your own at that point. We have a household response to situations like this and unfortunately it has to involve what we're discussing to be effective given worst case scenario. Can't just not answer the door because B&E is the next step.
 
If it were just like the flu, Gavin Newsome wouldn't have issued the entire state of CA a mandatory "stay at home" order. Come on fellas wake up. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Everyone needs to get on board and take it seriously.

To: as in directed towards
Two: the number following 1, before 3
Too: also, as well, or an extreme

Their: possessive, belonging to them
There: location
They're: contraction for the words "they are"

I hate to see all this stress spoiling our grammar.

I guess it's worth crashing the worlds economy if we can save just one life? So, we now have a set standard. Every time someone gets a cold, flue or the yearly virus out of China (oh, I'm a racist now) they can crash economic development of entire nations. How long did it take to get out of the last recession? How many struggled to make ends meet? Be interesting to see the final price tag and weigh it against acceptable losses.

Probably explains quite a bit the data coming from Italy vs US.

Also, there's a post on facebook about someone claiming high correlation between low transmission in countries with high rates of Malaria. Malaria treatments work well against the coronavirus family of respiratory virus, including SARS and MERS, and appear to work well against this new one. Won't link fb though.

Yes, it looks like anti-malarials plus "z-pack" anti-biotics are promising.

Just on a call with Roche/Quest and others. Roche can supply 5million tests per month but Quest/LabCorp can only do 20k tests per day (each) but getting specimens taken and to the labs is a bottleneck.
