For those saying that COVID-19 is no worse than the seasonal flu, I'd like to present some numbers from Austria. I'll summarize it below and you can see the original text at the bottom. Data is from Presse - the official Austrian statistical office and is for the week of March 30 to April 5. 1788 people died during this period which was an increase of 13% over the same period in the years 2016-2019. The increases were primarily in the 65+ age group. The increase was almost equally distributed between men and women (13.3% to 12.9%). More important are the regional numbers where there was a delay in social distancing - by region:
Vorarlberg +42%
Tirol +38%
Steiermark +25%
Burgenland +24%
Kärnten +20%

In areas that started social distancing early, the numbers were:
Oberösterreich (+7%)
Niederösterreich (+5%)
Salzburg (+4%)
Wien (+1%)

Yes, it is a small snapshot, but a 42% increase in deaths over prior years is pretty significant.

So? That doesn't change the fact that fatalities increased 42% in Vorarlberg and 38% in Tyrol. That has nothing to do with how widespread COVID-19 is, it has everything to do with a huge increase in fatalities over past years - and the only difference is COVID-19.
