Hot weather, anyone else notice this

91 octane for summer? Didn't try, but thanks for the tip! I'll go 91 on my next refill and will report back if it's still bogging down or not.

So what I'm observing from this thread is:

A) 2010 - 2011 4Runners driven in 100+ degrees do not seem to have any issues
B) 2014 & up driven in 100+ degrees does have a significant performance degradation. Quite a few were Limited models.

[not sure for 2012-2013 models]

Anything that might have changed in the airbox/intake configuration on the later years? It might be a good clue that the TRD airbox only fits the first few years of the 5th gen. Also, was the intake carbon filter introduced around 2014?
2016, never noticed any change

Try 100+ weather in higher elevations. Everything runs at a snail pace.

I have a 2010 GT mustang--feels like it drops 50 hp.
The 2018 limited gasps for every breath. literally feels like an old 22R....maybe 190 hp.

I've noticed in both higher octane makes a difference. The engine controls add a bit more timing back in.

Related to higher temps, do you feel like there is more engine and drive train noise at temps above 90f? I've noticed some and was wondering if it was just rubber insulators and vibration dampeners getting soft or some thermal expansion happening?

pedal commander

I run a pedal commander which really allows you to tweak throttle response and when the device is in ECO, it improves MPG. It is plug and play as well which is awesome.
