How are you carrying tools and spares?

I hate the way I am carrying all my crap. I've got a bunch of tools in a HD folding top tote with a tool kit bungeed to the top of it, and my recovery crap in a big HF tool bag next to it. When I go four wheeling, I add a spare tire, hi lift, cooler, spare CV, etc. to the mix. It takes up a ton of space and isn't secured very well at all.

How are y'all hauling all your crap around with it well organized and tied down? I'm not super eager to put drawers in the back since they're either heavy or expensive.

Ha, mine is way more cluttered....but I like the Home Depot 5gal bucket organizers for wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, fluids,etc....lots of everyday tools in a small accessable corner of the truck. I have a ratchet strap tethering it to the floor.

Not for recovery gear, but for basic tools and work equipment, I have the same basic setup.
2 tool boxes and a fold-top plastic crate for computer wires and what-not, all side by side. I also have my 2ft iron breaker bar (or thug wacker) and 2ft level tucked between the wheel well and the furthest left tool box.
When I need my ladder, it fits *perfectly* with the passenger side seat down, (ladder fully collapsed, I have maybe an inch between the folded forward seat and the back hatch) and then I just move my computer equipment box in front of my tool bags.

Believe it or not, I think our basic setup is cleaner than most other people's. I've actually gotten a few compliments from different people on how 'clean my tool box setup is'. Which in my mind means that most other people just toss crap in and don't care.

Unfortunately, without semi-permanently mounting something, or getting some expensive hard boxes, like the Milwaukee PackOuts, this may be the best way to do it.
I need to keep my setup fluid, as I often need to lower both seats for large equipment, furniture, etc.

working on mine still, trimmed my hi-lift to fit behind the backseat longways, built out the platform for sleeping and most tools i carry fit in the ammo can, i'll toss a few others in that cubby. jumper cables, tow strap and ratchet straps will go in the factory side storage.

Once i build the drawers, most of the recovery stuff will go in one of those

spare doesnt fit great, well, it fits but its large and in the way.
I have a swingout that i cut off a bikerack that will eventually become my spare carrier.

OP, I'm more or less like you, but I carry less spares (no second spare or CV) cause I've only really done mild wheeling so far. I use a milk crate bungeed to the front tie down loops to carry my spare fluids, folding shovel, tarp, fire extinguisher, etc. But I've been looking for a better container because the milk crate obviously won't hold any leaking fluids from contaminating the interior, and it's kinda falling apart from age. Next to that the bungees also hold down my portable compressor (Viair 88P) and my tool roll (https://www.amazon.com/Bucket-Boss-Super-Roll-74004/dp/B01M3QL75X).

Some more stuff (strap, D-rings, gloves, some rags, zip ties, multitool) is in the storage compartment on the right side of the cargo area wall.

Installed this plate a few months back and above there is space for 4+ gallons of extra fuel, an 18" tool bag, recovery bag, extra water, tarp, mover's blanket and room for spare parts too...

I load-up that storage spot only before we head out of town, and of course when I actually make time to start wheeling again! I keep it empty now for any local errands. Picking-up a shower door at THD in about a week, no need to haul all of that stuff (weight)...

I consider stuff stored in there to be for when things go wrong, not going as planned generally. I believe it's a little after page 50 in my "build" thread where I go into some detail on what I did...

On the rear side compartment, that mod can create quite a bit of space.

Above I recently added an attic rack for compressible items above and to suspend stuff too, ideally on the sides to not block the rear view...

LOVE THIS and Definitely doing it now that my spare wont fit under no matter what i do.

I'll have an air tank and compressor for onboard air, potentially a gas or water tank and maybe a small storage spot though i'd have to access from underneath somehow.
