How big can you go with a stock SE?

i have the 4th gen sport edition that requires 17-inch rims. i searched, unsucessfully, for a thread that discusses the largest tires that can be installed on the latest stock 4runners with little/no rub. keep in mind, they have to fit 17-inch rims. any ideas?

265/75/17 ( I believe)

you might be able to get 275's if there are any available but i'd say it's best to just go one size up from 265's.

Besides rubbing, also keep in mind that you'll may not be able to fit an upsized spare in the standard location. One size up should fit though.

that would be taller, but skinnier as well. i would like to keep the same width. it is too bad that they don't make larger tires for 17-inch rims.

How would that be skinnier? The stock size for the SE is 265/65/R17. Tirerack.com has a bunch of tires at 265/70/R17. Same width, but taller.

265/65/17 (STOCK)
diameter: 30.6
width: 10.4
height: 6.8

265/70/17 (1 size up)
diameter: 31.6
width: 10.4
height: 7.3

Do the math, it gets taller yet maintains the same width

you can try to get 285's but I know that'll mean lots of rubbing. 4route has some 275's and those are inbetween the 265/285's so that'll work too but ofcourse with that, you'll want a tiny lift

265/70/17 is the largest you can go without a lift, period.

275/70/17s even with a 4" lift would require fender trimming.
