How Can I Disable My 4Runner

So I get home from work today and my next door neighbor comes out and says that their 1997 4runner got stolen last night. It was parked about 20 yards from my 4runner.

Way to close for comfort for me and it really pisses me off that they stole theirs. Mine sit in the driveway with a security light shining on it all night. Their 4Runner was parked in the street.

So is there a wire or that I can disconnect so my 4Runner won't start? On my pickup I just pull the coil wire and I also have "The Club" if my truck sits for awhile.

Disconnecting the battery would be to much trouble. I want to make it so when I want to drive it I can just plug back in a wire and go but I want to kill the juice to the motor.

I checked under the hood and thought about disconnecting the throttle cable but I think the thief could figure that out.

I am going back out to talk to my neighbor again and see if I can figure something out but any suggestion would be very much appreciated and I could pass the info on if they get their 4Runner back.

A common thing to do is a fuel pump kill switch, and hide the switch somewhere, or even leave it in plain sight, thieves are too stupid to have any idea what the deal is.

i dont think its a good idea to be constantly pulling your efi fuse, ive read about that the car learns how you drive and over time you get better gas milage but pulling the efi fuse resets it every time....im not a pro or anything but thats just what ive heard....
 
So if you look under the drivers side rear seat, there is an access panel to the fuel pump wires. Cut the (+) and put a toggle switch in it. The toggle can be put anywhere you want but someplace it wont accidentally be turned off while driving.

With all the new tech out there today, I have to recommend a RFID relay kill switch.

what you could even do is a stealthy push button that still requires you to use your key to turn the car on but you would have to push a " secret" button that you could hide pretty much anywhere id personally put it in the center console coin pocket....hmmm i may do this myself.... or the battery relay like i suggested earlyer.....im kind of on a really bad part of town with a high crime rate...so my cars saftey is kinda a priorety...

Yes and if you do a google search for "kill switch" using the search bar you will find the answer. Its a blue wire that runs along the drivers side floor.

I see and got the link and thank you. Great info there.

No luck on my neighbors runner yet. His wife is really bummed and she told me she did not sleep much last night.

I installed a "The Club" backwards (for max protection) in my runner till I decide the next step.

Some options I prefer ...

* truck club
* method to prevent fuel from working without my permission
* factory alarm (it will stop them ... haha yeah right)
* parked in a garage with a dog nearby
* M1911 (mil-spec) for defense of property and family
 
They probably won't even steal it because it is a 5 speed. I would imagine the theives would avoid the sticks, but who knows.

On my Celica I installed an RFID reader in the seat and have the card in my wallet. The reader is set to disable the starter relay until the card is present.

I have most of my friends and family convinced that the seat is calibrated to my exact weight.
