How can I tell what sort of lift my truck has?

Maybe ill just need to insert some pics or whatnot.
But Im wondering how I can assess what sort of lift is on my truck. Im new to the whole 4runner (and 4x4 really) community so its all pretty much new to me. Spacers, body lift, susp lift blah blah blah is all a bit confusing.

To make matters worse, I just took the T4R in for a service and they told me the whole front end is farked. All 4 shocks, 4 ball joints, pitman arms and idler arm all need to be relpaced.

The thing seems to drives fine which is what I cant work out.

I am wondering if the lift setup on this thing wasnt done right or is causing additional strain on those joints and other suspension parts.

You're probably going to have to post some pics of the front end. I could guess till the sun goes down but a pic is worth a thousand words. Be sure to include the spindles, ball joints, shocks, and springs in your pics.

1. Get under the truck and look.
An aftermarket suspension will have the name on the shocks, etc. Then you can check the brands site to see what it could be.

2. There is a service campaign for the idler arm/ relay rod, and it includes an alignment. Don't let them screw you.

No dealer will do the recall on a truck that needs a front end rebuild...

As for the alignment, none of the dealers around can do one on my truck because they don't have the equipment to work on a truck with 36 inch tires.

So you can't find a competent shop, what's that got to do with his post ??

What does mentioning the steering rod recall have to do with his post?

Thanks for the replies guys, I rang about about the recalls and they already told me the steering rod was done a few years back.
