How can you tell if Paint Protection was installed?

Just picked up my new Black/Beige 2010 Limited 4x4! Hood already has ding from a rock. Car has under 200 miles on it. When I got it, the Toyoguard bottle was in the center console unopened. Is this what the product is? I thought it was a plastic-like film that they applied??? Dealer says it was installed, and that it was an extra bottle, but I think that they never installed it because they say that they do it at the port after they arrive in America. Since they expedited my vehicle to get it to me sooner, I am suspicious that they bypassed installing the Toyoguard at the port in Jacksonville. So, I ask you all, is there a quick and easy way to test to see if the application was never applied? I am contacting my detail guy today, and he will probably know right off the bat...but thought I would ask you guys!

Very excited about doing the following mods going forward:
Tint frnt windows, black out chrome door handles, repl. horn, weld on a new trailer light hookup right next to the hitch receiver, add additional Xpel paint protection (if need be), Weather tech floor mats, etc.

Toyoguard is another way to pad your bill. I think it varies from dealer to dealer but it usually includes the paint sealant/wax (your extra bottle is for cleaning), scotchguard on the fabric, roadside assistance, window etched with the vin, maybe some undercoating, loaner car, free car washes, etc. My dealer added $3k to the sticker (did not pay sticker) and all I can confirm was added is NitroFill in the tires (hey the caps are neat), pinstripes, and some clear tape on the door edges that I have since removed.
I'm not sure if your pkg included any actual paint protection film like Xpel, you'll have to ask the dealer. I think all 4R's come with the plastic on the rocker panels and behind the door handles.

Do you have your VIN etched in the glass?

I know it is a little profit center for them because most people won't make claims, etc. However, it was already on the vehicle I bought. They threw in a remote start no charge because I told them I didn't want a black truck (wanted silver), and because it had the PPP on it which I told them I didn't want...now that I have the black truck, I love the way it looks, but know that I need to take special care to keep it from getting scratched up...in about two years, I probably won't even care about scratches actually! I checked the windows, all of the side windows DO HAVE the VIN etched in...so I guess this is a good thing...thanks for the help...

Oh, and forgot the question at hand...how can one tell if a vehicle has paint protection film?

If the truck has a film installed, you will be able to catch your fingernail on the edge of it, especially on the hood. The film usually goes up about 6" or so and stops. Wax can create residue here too, and be obvious. The Toyota applied sealant is a liquid, not a film. I want to get the film added to ours to keep the rock chips down. A friend of ours has a Mustang that some kid ran his bike into and the film kept the handle bars from chipping the paint. He needed new film but he was glad he added it.
