Take the back gate panel off the inside. There will be a few bolts and clips that you need to take out from behind the panel. After that it should pop out

Thanks for the info. I want to Paint it with black texured paint. Im going to wetsand it and prime it with add. premoter first.

FYI that thing is a PIA to remove. And if it doesn't pop out with ease take another look to ensure everything is disconnected (window lock, license plate lights, tailgate handle). I would advise that you consider painting it in place and just mask off the tailgate.

It's really not that bad, you have to go through the inside panel, i think there were 5 screws... Be sure to remove the tag lights! And i did the same mad to mine, looks good imho...

Kregg, that's the look that Im trying to get. I cant understand why they made them in a funky pinksish gray. Ive made a few more Mod last week. I will post them asap. By the way, You know the plastic strip across the rear bumper, I used bed liner on it. Lool awesome. I am going to do the whole under body as soon as I can get it good and clean

Awesome, have you debadged your truck? I know mine was a limited and when I did it made a huge difference!

I tried to, but mines a 2001 sport..dark green. When I tried to debadge it and remove the pinstripes, you could tell that over the years it had faded. I still need to replace the the front right pinstripe. The stealership said they dont carry them anymore. I had to put the badges back on. I dont know if it would help to take it and get it compounded by a pro. By the way Kregg , how long ago did you paint yours, hows it holding up and what steps did you take to paint yours?

well, I finally got around to painting it. Man, it looks 150% better. I got about half started removing the panel ect to get it off, When I saw all the bolts, wires ect I said the heck with that. I ened up using a scotch pad to degloss it, Primed it with adhesive premoter and the paintd it with textured black. Did the spoiler too. Ill post photos later of it plus a real cool mod Im working on. I got alot of ideas. On one, Im willing to bet many will do it because it will look cool plus save alot of tire cleaning time.
