How do I run wire through firewall?

Hey guys looking for some help running my amp power wire through my firewall.

What is the best place to do this. Passenger or driver side?

Can I use an existing hole as I have no interest in drilling a new one.

Where can I find that hole?

I believe you can use either as there is a hole on both sides. I think. I usually run things through the driver side since that is where the battery and fuseboxes are. There is rubber boot that fits over the hole and keeps the weather out. I usually find that the hole in the boot is only big enough to fit what the factory put there and I just make my own extra hole in the boot. Really it is just a little slash that allows me to pass a few wires through.

You could remove that plastic piece but I usually don't need to. I just feed the wire in from the engine side and then reach up under the dash. A few minutes of rummaging around in there will help you get your bearings. I always find that the opening inside is not as far up as I think it is.

Yep, that's the one. Make sure you make the cut smaller than the wire so it fits tight on the wire to keep water out.

i used that one for my front speakers amp, all u do is poke the power wire thru, and then u have to go under ur dash and pull, otherwise i judt take that gromet out and then u poke the wire thru and then feed it in the car and pull as mush needed, and then put the gromet in.

It isn't that far up there, it comes out just above the bottom of the plastic cover so it's easy to reach.

Thanks eskimo. JL makes good stuff. The setup I have is probably, no, scratch that, it is more than I need, but it does sound good. No matter what I throw at it or how high the volume goes. I still have some tweaking to do to get it just right though.
I've got one bulk pack worth of dynamat in it now and another one sitting here waiting for a day without rain so I can put it in.
I suppose I should take pictures of installing it since everyone always wants to see pics of everything. Have I rambled enough? Sorry. Good luck with your install. Let us know how it sounds.

It just seems that way from the engine side. Once you look up under the dash you'll see that it is not that hard to find.
