Start by taking out the seats, center console cup holders, door sill trim.

First start with a big dose of patience. Since these cars are on the older side you'll find a lot of brittle plastic bits: Fortunately a lot of fasteners are still available, but still be careful.
Get a new philips #2 screw driver so that you have the smallest chance of stripping a screw or bolt. Also some prying tools to reduce the strain on the parts as much as possible.
I started with seats and moved onto the console and then all trim. Be methodical about the screws/bolts you remove and mark them so that you can find them back again later.

what about the carpet my i have a 3rd gen 01 the carpet is falling apart and it just looks like an eye sore how would i take it out ?

Just a heads up I'd recommend a set of JIS bits rather than PH2 and an impact driver to help with stubborn screws

Start with the seats, then the center console, then the pillar/floor trim panels working your way from the front of the vehicle to the back.
Carpet will require at least the seats, console, and pillar/footwell trim panels. You can maybe sneak the front carpet out without removing the crash bar or dash pad usually if you're creative.
At that point you'll have the majority of the interior stripped out, if you want the headliner out; take off the handles, lights, sun visors, and overhead console.
After that it's just the dash and crash bar.

Same process, get all the stuff taken out: Seats, center console, any plastic bits that touch the carpet. That's what I did. I tried to find pictures of my teardown but was not successful. It's not that bad but it's even easier if you just take everything out. It's also a good, when you have the carpet out, to put sound deadening underneath if you like.
I bought a new carpet for about $200-$250 in the same color I had so it came out nice.

To pull carpet it would mean all the seats and perimeter trim.
