How do you handle the first scratch?

The driver's door opens much wider than my old Tacoma did. Anyway, the wind caught my door and blew it into another cars mirror. You should have seen how far I was parked away. Just caught the edge of their mirror and left a chip mark on my drivers door. :dammit:

So, how do you handle the first scratch?

My son rode his bike a little too close to the driver side door and left nice 8 inch gash in the paint. First scratch I got. But I know it won't be the last. Lots of Scratch X and elbow grease has made it tolerable, but it still sucks. Might take it to a local body shop and see if they got something better than the Scratch X. The bike took a ghost ride.
 
It hurts at first. I remember when my car door hit a fire hydrant for the first time. I was PISSED. But in time the pain fades and you stop noticing what happened. There will likely be worse things to come. But it still stings...
 
I whacked the rear-quarter panel with my keys as soon as I got it home, then drove it half-way into a bush the next morning... just to get the "first scratch" out of the way.
 
I drove some girl home the other night and she opened the back driver side door into a fence. Luckily it hit the fender molding, but still gouged the plastic. Bummed me out. New scratch and she didn't even put out. :wtf:

I was getting on the freeway, when all of a sudden I hear a rock slam into my windshield. I didn't even see it coming, but damn it was loud. I quickly scanned my windshield to find a chip the size of a bullet hole. After a few cuss words, I called my insurance and had it fixed the next day. Boy am I glad the rock hit my winshield and not the paint.
 
Hey, my first scratch was the other day, my son and I were out playing at Joshua Tree and my son asks to try the Trail out on the trail he was used to his 2002 Sport but I guess the Trail is a little wider and the trail we were on wasn't and we headed into da bushes . Not to bad just up the whole right side well a lot of buffing and ya can bearly see it.:art:, Oh well were nubes and enjoy the Ride .

We are, we already took it out on the 4th day of ownership to muddy Gorman and Joshua Tree and now were trying to talk mom's into an Alaska Alcan trip in august. 2010 Mag. Grey Trail and a 2002 2wd Sport,:boink:
 
Mine had a scratch when I took delivery of it. :( Made them buff it out before I left. I now have several. :mad:

I bought both rigs, the 99 and the 04 used, but both was in great shape, not dents....
With the 99, I went straight from the dealer, to the trails, yes I got scratches no dents, that was later. On the 04 it took a couple days to hit a trail, but within a month, it had its first "dent" to be honest, it didnt bother me one bit, its a 4x4 that WILL be used on the trails, then about 8 months later, got another, just a little kis from a tree, lol, oh well, I was it, mine is not a show truck, lol
So it doesnt bother me to get a dent from time to time, lol

Stare in disbelief for 10-15 seconds.....eyes wide open, gaping mouth..

Let out a primal scream followed by a few choice expletives.

Then order a Langka or Dr. Colorchip paint repair kit online.Your 3 digit paint code is on the black sticker on the inside of your drivers door pillar.It is the one near the bottom and goes like.... C/TR: xxx/xxxx. The first 3 is the paint code and the second 4 is the interior trim code.

Mine has several rock dings in the front and on the hood already. It's going to happen.All kinds of junk on the highways down here as there is so much construction/oil rigs going up.

My one year old was running around with a metal handled broom and put about a 12" scratch on my Tundra. I think it wasn't as bad since my little boy did it. Hard to stay mad at him.

My favorite is when you see the trucks that haul dirt with the open top, and you see clumps of dirt and rocks flying out the top as they cruise down the highway. Then you see a sign on the back of the truck "not responsible for damage to your vehicle."

I have always wondered how that would hold up in court?
 
When you're hitting the trails, it's bound to happen. Memories of the adventure, battlewounds :ak472:.
