I have a 2000 4runner and in my gas tank right now i have in between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank. I am going to be traveling 106 miles tomorrow and i usually average about 16-18 mpg, the problem today is that i lost my debit card and tomorrow just happens to be sunday when the banks arent open to get a new one, so i need to know how much gas i have in my tank right now. this may be the worlds dumbest question, but ive seen posts here that say the tank size is 15g and ive seen 18.5 so im trying to figure out if what gas i have now would get me where i am going.
How far can i get?

Try to drive 65 and never speed up or slow down. Change lanes whenever possible to make this happen.

It's not a 15 gallon tank so he's better off than what you've come up with here. However, these things may have the worlds worst gas gauge too. I'd barrow a few bucks to be safe.
Well i am staying at a friends house until tuesday so if i can make it there she said she would either loan me money to get back or take me to a bank on monday. I usually go about 65-70 on the highway but i was thinking maybe i should take a different route its only about 2 miles less than taking the highway but the speedlimit is lower, wondering if that would be better?
problem with my credit card is that when i reported my debit card lost they put a hold on it to be safe, i only have about $8 in cash on me and maybe another $4 in change

I was wondering how much I had left in my tank, usually filling up once it gets to quarter tank left. I waited to fill up until the light came on, and I filled up at 14.5 gallons, which means I had 3.5 gallons left. Take into account 1 gallon is always left in the tank, I still had 2.5 left, or 40+ miles left. You're good to go.
do you think that if i took a different route maybe at a lower speedlimit i could better my mpg for this trip?

i drove like 55 miles with the gas light on once. put that $8 in the tank, that gets you an extra 30-40 miles, which will get you to your friends house. take the highway but do 55mph, thats the sweet spot for optimal MPG in most cars.

I also have a 2000 and I get a lot more miles out of the second half of my tank than the first half. Also my fuel light is conservative, I typically have 3-4 gallons left once the light comes on. If you average 16-18mpg that's putting you like 275-305 miles a tank. You've got it with gas to spare.

Man I'm glad you don't fly airplanes.. All kidding aside. Mine gets 250 miles out of a tank at about 18 mpg. Lets call it a 1/2 tank. You should get 110-120 or so miles before you're camping on the side of the highway. Sorry for the redundant math here, I just had to put my 2 cents in. Good luck!
Edit: I get 250 out of the tank before I get gas. You could probably stretch to 275 or a little more on fumes.
