How frame repair should look

This is not my 4runner, and it is not me who did the work. It is a local friend in NJ. Who welds and fabricates for a living. If anyone needs anything welded or fixed in the NJ area. He's a good welder to go to. There have been few photos of guys getting a bad job done on fixing a frame.

Why not ? Water, moisture can still happen. Especially if you off roadand do water and mud crossings.

Get a gallon of fluid film. Get a cheap brush and gloves. And brush fluid film on the outside of the frame and under body of the vehicle. That's what I do.

And some in spray cans to spray inside the frame through every hole. After a good hose out of course.

Are frame repairs like this expensive?

I have a 97 limited needing about 1 foot of frame repaired behind the rear axel on the driver's side. Frame is completely rotted through where snow/salt must have accumulated against the spare tire. The rest of the frame is good with surface rust.

Is something like the original pic going to cost around $200, $800, maybe more?

A general idea of cost would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that looks like 1/4" plate and continuos welds., bit much IMO, and those vertical welds are not advised although common on even factory frames and slider installs, fish plating <> is safer as it doesn't cause a vertical crack later on in life.
