Just did a intake manifold pull and timing belt change on my '91 3.0.
Not all that bad of a job but still took me most of a weekend. Other than getting the exhaust manifold bolts loose it should be pretty easy. Take the heads in to have professionally cleaned and gone over.
Oh! And make sure you mark all the vacuum hoses and the other assorted misc. stuff to re-install. Than would have saved me about 1 hour and a large puddle of coolant on the floor.
A Haynes or Chilton manual will walk you through most of it.
A good quality impact wrench will help with the reassembly as well, for the crank pully.
Pulling the starter off to lock the engine up to spin off the crank pully was a new one tho! But I did find a use for the Craftsman Tool box lock rod doing that.
