we have been having some hot days recently. Today it was 88 outside and I left my car out in the sun after coming back from a morning trip. I left in the early afternoon again and turned the ac down to lo. Recirc was on and the fan was on full blast. It took 20min to start blowing cold air. It never blew hot air as it was definitely cooler than outside but it never got "freezing" even after driving around for a half hour with it on low.

Is this normal? I want to make it clear that it never blew hot air it just took FOREVER to get cold and never got freezing.

Maybe I'm just too used to getting spoiled in my mom's land cruiser which starts blowing ice cold air in 1min.

I mean it gets coo(cooler than the ambient air) but it doesn't get cold for a long time. Driving into the sun today with the ac set to atuo 70 the fan was constantly level 3. This seems high bud idk what yours or others are like.

Unless you know how to do it yourself, I'd take it somewhere to have your freon/refrigerant checked out. Sounds like you are low. I'd say you were out (stuff will leak out on ya occasionally) but you say it does eventually get cold.

My air gets super cold within a few seconds of telling it to go on A/C. Of course, mine is brand new, but still - sounds like you've got an issue. Temp here was 92

Guess ill have to take it to the dealer when I'm done with finals. At least its still under warranty.

Will low refrigerant be covered under warranty?

Agree with the others I do.
Servicing your air conditioning needs.

Although modern A/C systems will never be the equal of the ones we had 20 or more years ago, (Thank you, environmental whack jobs) it should run better than that. Takes mine about 1 minute before it starts blowing cold air. Of course, if that first minute is spent stuck waiting at a standstill at a stoplight or for traffic, it might take a little longer.
