I really hope to be keeping this baby for a long time. I just got my Jetta GLI back from the shop after about a month of not having it due to hail damage. Anyway, the GLI is a lease and goes back soon, and I've already figured out that I'm gonna have to be that guy w/ the SUV and then the fast little car to go w/ it.

In 2005 my parents donated their first car to charity.
It was a 1981 Toyota Corolla, 2 door.
They bought it new and drove the heck out of it.
Then they gave it to my cousin to drive in college...who drove the heck out of it.
I drove it in college a little bit, then gave it back to them...with 305k miles on it.
Through the years it needed 2 water pumps, 2 alternators, an exhaust manifold gasket, and regular maintenance.
It was rusted through the bottoms of the doors but still worked just fine when they donated it.
I should have kept that car and restored it
Anyway, I recently got a 2003 SR5, V8 4wd.
I'd like to get 300k miles out of this toyota too.

i plan on keeping mine for the long haul. i've had it for less 9months now and i love it. ill be graduating college soon and its nice enough to drive when i go into the professional job world.
i plan on getting married in a year or so and if we ever have kids itll be a nice child hauler
i will eventually need to get another v8 sports car again though

My 4 runner saved my life the other day so its definately a keeper for life. I got run off the interstate into a median by a semi truck at 70 mph. From pavement to grass and back on the pavement at 70 mph the 4 runner never lost traction and i had complete controll of the car. I think any other truck and i would have flipped. The only problem i had was my windows were down and all this grass got kicked up into my car through the back window. Im keepin my 4 runner till it wont go any more

That seems about right to me. I just bought a 2004 4Runner and I am getting rid of my 92 Honda with 227,000 miles on it. I would like to keep my 2001 and 2004 for 250,000 miles. (I plan on changing the timing blet on the 01 at 120,000 then keep it till 250,000 and sell it, MAYBE.)teampwr2 said:

I plan to keep my truck until a worth while fuel friendly version of the 4Runner is out...hybrid, diesel, hydrogen, electric, natural gas, etc.

First, my vote only counts for half. My Runner is actually my wife's. Although she's up for the OME suspension! We just have to wait until the kids can climb in on their own (see my signature).
As for keeping it, our 95 Tacoma was sold last year with 129,000. The wife got it brand new in 95 and she wants to keep this one at least that long. We'll do the same with this one, just treat it right and keep driving!
Like someone mentioned above, we could one day be tempted by a diesel or hybrid.

I am going on 60 years old and I don't drive but around 10K miles a year now. I plan on keeping my 08 T4R for life. Now I may buy a two seater someday when I get into my second childhood, but my Toyota 4-Runner, it's for life.

Not sure, I think it depends how long it holds up before it becomes a money pit (and not in a good way).
I have only had my '07 T4R for 4 months and I have already put 13k on it.
