I did compare my brother's 2001 Lexus LX leather to mine. LX leather is definitely softer but thinner and does not have as much grain. I have also noticed that my leather doesn't get nearly as much stretch marks (less wear marks) as on my brother's LX or as i did on my BMW M3 Nappa leather. Overall, i am happy because i wear jeans a lot and take my G off-road often.

The GX is a great off-roader right out of the box. I have done some pretty difficult stuff with my stock tires. Thai keeps hounding me to put a set of BF AT's on. I told him as soon as my Michilens wear out. The only real problem I have is with the running boards. They are just to low for any major off-roading. I have scratched my passager side one up. I am looking at slider options now.
I believe that the GX is the best SUV on the market for overall usage. It can hardly be beat based on ride quaility and can hold it's own off-roading.
If I was looking for a more off-road based SUV. The new FJ would be high on my list.

:Hey guys, i'm new to the forum. I too have a GX470 and i'm loving it. i just wanted to say first off i'm 18...still in high school so i'm not a business man yet or a soccor dad. I too take mine off-roading. I've done alot of mods on mine and such. and you can also find me on clublexus.com. I can see that some of members on this forum is on there too. Lots of good info on there.

So far all i have done is hid conversion, audiobahn sound system, viper alarm system, exaust tip (hopefully a true exaust system by borla later on), and 2 turbonator.
future mods: trd supercharger, cai, tinted windows, wind reflectors, prado taillights, brush guard, clear bra.
One upgrade that i did and then i undid was 22" wheels....it was killing me on gas going and coming from school.

2007 GX470
My wife loved my T4R so much that we got her the new GX470. She knows I read this forum a lot so she's always asking me questions about things in the GX. Of course I end up suggesting she read her manual. I keep my trucks stock but she knows that now that I have the 2006 I may end up making some mods to my 2001. So her curiosity gets the better of her and she always making comparisons and asking if her truck can do things that the 4Runner can. So I signed up on the Lexus forum to give her an outlet for the questions she was asking but she has yet to use it. Asked me a question the other day that annoyed me so much that I finally asked her if she was planning to make any modification or add any aftermarket pieces to the GX that I could look into for her. She said she wanted to put a cargo mat in and the all weather floor mats. It was so hard for me to keep a straight face.
Please I beg you keep the GX470 owners on their own forum.
