I have 176, XXX on mine.
‘98 5spd 4x4
Purchased in ‘17 with 175k
Now 207k
Nothing but regular maintenance except replacing the reverse switch on tranny when it started shorting/blowing a fuse.
Figured 200k was broken in enough to add an SC, so at 206k I got a gen1 TRD and “while I was in there”:
- timing belt
- water pump
- oil seals
None of that showed any signs of needing to be done by a long shot, but the previous owner had no idea when t belt was done, just that it was. Even the original water pump (has ‘97 dated casting mark) was still water tight and all related bearings turning smoothly.
By the way, while the SC doesn’t suddenly transform you into a drag racer, it does make climbing inclines sooo much more pleasant. Hate the cost, but the extra oomph is so worth it.
Toyota really knocked it out of the park with the 3rd Gen Runner.

I'm in a similar place - just got a 2005 with 135k miles, but garage-kept, and tons of maintenance records. My plan is to hit 350k.

Put 1400 miles on my '99 SR5 this past weekend driving between central California and Portland, Oregon helping my daughter relocate for a new job. Absolutely trouble free, and zipped up those hills and mini-mountains no problem. Reaffirmed how much I enjoy the 4Runner. I'm an original owner.

Just picked up my first 4runner, but longtime Toyota owner.
2000 SR5 4WD 5 Speed Manual! -Large over-fenders, Sunroof, Upgrade Package 4, port installed factory tow package and running boards
Sitting at 231K miles, which is average-ish for these from what I gather?
She had one older female owner since near new. I have all the records from new. Original drivetrain front to back, even still has the original clutch!
Lifetime California car, however originally sold outside CA, so I have the combo of federal emissions (20MPG highway) and zero rust. Won't be selling anytime soon!
