How many miles on your 4runner?

288,000 on my Desert Dune '97 SR5 ...I am the original owner and have done all work on this 4Runner since it went over 36,000 in 1999 ! I'm in the process of doing some maintenance as I intend to get over 400,000 on it ! I love this thing.

Good S*** Choken! What kind of maint. have you done to your runner? I have a 99 with 130k on it and I want to be able to say the same thing you have said and plan on keeping it over 400k miles. Any major repairs to her?

i have 218,000 on my 97 limited.... offroaded every weekend.... never had an issue. the day she blows which i dont expect any time soon ill gi pick up another high mileage 3.4 from the junk yard and get back to tearin it up.

Jeeper1, The first non-routine item to go was the flex plate. It broke around 220,000 and resulted in me having to replace it and the transmission. I got a used transmission off of Ebay with 77,000 miles for $800. I still don't understand why the flex plate breaking messed the transmission up, but it did ! I've had to replace the power antenna mast a couple of times. I've always run Mobil 1 since the break-in oil was removed. I have just replaced the engine with another 97 engine with 125,000 on it. I did go ahead and replace the injectors, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, pulleys and oil pump. My original engine lost compression in #1 cylinder for some reason @ 287,000. I have not torn the engine down to diagnose the actual problem.

I just did the Tundra brake upgrade using the 199mm calipers. It was a straight bolt on swap. No wheel interference. I had replaced the factory rotors at around 150K and they were needing turning or replacement again, so I did the upgrade. I'm happy with it. I just replaced the original muffler with a Walker stainless one that is factory quiet. I've never replaced oxygen sensors, shocks, or any front end parts, nor have I ever had the front end aligned ! I have new Tokico shocks that I'm going to put on with new oem lower ball joints in the next couple of weeks. I have gotten 125K + on two sets of Michelin LTX M&S with no uneven wear. The OEM tires lasted about 25K before they were so damn loud that they drove me crazy !

I also plan on putting a B&M transmission oil cooler and take the original radiator out of the oil cooling business in the very near future. There may be a thing that I've forgotten but nothing that was costly. This is a great web site where I have already learned a lot !

165k on mine. and its been rolled. I bought it with a rebuilt title. and everyone keeps talking about when their 4runnesr goes and dies... hell, im putting in a new motor and going to keep on rolling

I forgot that I just splurged and replaced the drivers side seat bottom upholstery with a new oem seat cover. It was like $300 !!!

120k on my 2000 limited V6, just did tune up and new O2 sensors and still haulin ass. Also just noticed oil leaking around valve cover, hope I can ignore it.

1999 SR5 3.4 roll'n strong at 268,000. Routine maint on these will keep them going strong. Still tight even with the miles. Small head gasket leak recently started which I hope to take care of next week.....

:gun6: It's not a problem until it's a problem

Mileage

My 2000 SR5, 3.4LV6 auto has 173,000 miles - original owner. Regular maintentance and believe it or not - original brakes - planning to do front pads & rotors at 180M. Have replaced the radiator/trans cooler and, although body looks great, recently had to have some welding done on the frame. Suggest you folks in mid-west/northern climes keep an eye on rust on inside passenger side frame rail beside the muffler. Also rear differential housing (pinholes & leaks). I was surprised how common these problems are.

Good-luck.....on to 300M!

97 SR5 V6 w/ 260K, still going strong.
Although it did stall a few days ago, I waited an hour and it started up again, and no problems since.
I'm off to a Timing Belt and Oil Change on 6 July 2011. (Tomorrow).

2000 Limited , 178,000km ( 111,250 miles), timing belt changed at (135K km)

recently did a 2000km trip, and got 570 km on a single tank, :)

1996 SR5 V6 Auto trans. I'm at 226,446 but it's "new" to me. Runs strong, feels tight, and you'd never guess the mileage if you saw it or drove it. Got 20mpg the first tank I put through it. Engine is cleaner than anything esle I've owned inside and out. Tires and tranny cooler are next in line, and shooting for that 300K milestone.
