Jeeper1, The first non-routine item to go was the flex plate. It broke around 220,000 and resulted in me having to replace it and the transmission. I got a used transmission off of Ebay with 77,000 miles for $800. I still don't understand why the flex plate breaking messed the transmission up, but it did ! I've had to replace the power antenna mast a couple of times. I've always run Mobil 1 since the break-in oil was removed. I have just replaced the engine with another 97 engine with 125,000 on it. I did go ahead and replace the injectors, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, pulleys and oil pump. My original engine lost compression in #1 cylinder for some reason @ 287,000. I have not torn the engine down to diagnose the actual problem.
I just did the Tundra brake upgrade using the 199mm calipers. It was a straight bolt on swap. No wheel interference. I had replaced the factory rotors at around 150K and they were needing turning or replacement again, so I did the upgrade. I'm happy with it. I just replaced the original muffler with a Walker stainless one that is factory quiet. I've never replaced oxygen sensors, shocks, or any front end parts, nor have I ever had the front end aligned ! I have new Tokico shocks that I'm going to put on with new oem lower ball joints in the next couple of weeks. I have gotten 125K + on two sets of Michelin LTX M&S with no uneven wear. The OEM tires lasted about 25K before they were so damn loud that they drove me crazy !
I also plan on putting a B&M transmission oil cooler and take the original radiator out of the oil cooling business in the very near future. There may be a thing that I've forgotten but nothing that was costly. This is a great web site where I have already learned a lot !
