so we all know its cool to tell how many miles we have on our 4runners, why not share how many miles we've put on our automatic lockers? and a report on their differences in performance. . . .

Ive had mine for 43,000 miles. Its an Aussie, and Ive used both heavy and light weight gear oil. ive never put any limited slip additives or anything....but may try soon (im beginning to get more of those loud pops here and there). BUT, id did recently go back to the lighter gear oil (think im gonna switch that out for the quiet stuff, haha).

I've had my Spartan in for about 1.5k and it has definately gotten quieter/less bangs and pops since I first put it in.

FWIW putting in heavier gear oil helped quiet it down as well in the past week.

Very curious to see how it goes as I put more miles on it

Put my Spartan in the rear about 8k miles ago. Was awkward as hell when I first put it in. Now I nearly forget that I installed it!

have my "auto locker" for about 10k only way to tell its there is to do a burn out or pick a tire up off the ground and pull the ebrake

Different rigs, but:

I ran an Aussie in my pickup. I put about 5k of mostly offroad use (more accurate description would be abuse). Also used it for a few projects like pulling out a bunch of fence posts and pushing over a dead tree.

I ran a Lockright in the 60, but only did a few wheeling trips and one road trip to Moab (and Hell's Revenge) and back. I ran heavy gear oil in this diff, and highly recommend going that route.

Even though they're pretty much the same thing, the Lockright was quieter and less noticeable, although that my have something to do with the weight of the rig.

Awkward as hell sounds about right, I was seriously questioning my choice initially. But about 3 weeks of DD'ing and I really don't notice it except for making slow, tight, parking lot maneuvers. My tires do seem to be wearing evenly front to back as well

Every once and a while it bangs into a parking spot and scares the living daylights out of anyone nearby. I just find it funny now :guitar2:
