How many miles until your original alternator and/or starter failed?

I had a 2005 and traded it in 2020 with 187,000 miles on it. The original starter and alternator never failed.

Shopping now for OEM starter and alternator for my 04 runner. Both starter/alternator are original and at 260,000+ miles work fine daily. Going to start running to lake (3 hour drive) more frequently this summer so it is time just to be grateful and do some "preventive maintenance" Bought new 19 years ago, just indestructible, amazing machine.

Are you doing the work yourself? If so, consider rebuilding yours instead of buying a new one. A ~$20 kit from Amazon and 15 minutes of your time plus the removal & reinstallation (that’s the real fun). LMK if you want links to the YT vid and forum post I used.

SR5 V6 with 247k when I replaced the alternator with an aftermarket Duralast (none reman) from Autozone.

Still have the original water pump at 248K which is unbelievable.

The original alternator on my '06 gave out at 140k miles while I was driving and left me stranded. Had to get my rig towed home and then I put in a remanufactured Denso unit from NAPA.

Reman Denso unit is the way to go, that’s what I did too. Mine went out like 3,000 miles ago

Mine failed around 250K right after a long road trip on Old Hwy 50.
Got super lucky

My starter went out about 4 years ago at @150k miles. Had it replaced with a remanufactured, which lasted @ 6months. That was replaced under warranty and I have had no issues since. Alternator is still original. 2008 v6 with 175k miles.

Mine went out a couple years ago so don't remember the exact miles but it was probably around 120k on a 2006 v8. No clue what I replaced it with.
