How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

wish I would have found this thread before I purchased. Sounds like I paid a little too much. Should have gone back home to South Carolina, although I don't really have the time for the 22 hour drive back here any time in the foreseeable future.

TDIL: I'm really good at buying and selling used cars on CL/forums, not so much with new cars and dealers. Oh well. Still stoked on my new truck.

On the surface, this looks like a giant rip off because CarPlay and Android auto are stock options and have great map apps.
Of course it's a rip off. 'Premium' is just advertising BS. $1500 for their 'upgraded' system vs. you spending $1500 to upgrade it yourself = no brainer.

Is $36,030 okay on a 2019 OffRoad with a MSRP of $40,049? Costco price.
Sales guy said I might get another couple hundred off on non Costco deal but then not get the Costco discounts on other stuff. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet, any thoughts. First 4Runner.

You are about $4k off MSRP so I would say it's not bad at all. I think you could do slightly better though, shop few dealers around. Now it's end of the year and end of November, let them come to you and ask for your money. Also, keep in mind that $1500 customer cashback deal lapses on Nov 4th. There might be new deal or not, nobody knows. That $1500 incentive is probably included in your quote already.

I think it's possible to do better, because I did. My post is a few pages back. I'm in a market where 4Runner's sell well. I went in with the attitude that if the deal happens, that's great, but it's okay if it doesn't work out too. I think they could likely sense that.

I walked out once, simply because I was out of time that day. They offered another $300 off at that point, and I said I'll keep that in mind. They called a few days later, and asked what it would take? So I said make an offer. They offered another $500, and I said I'd think about it.

A couple days later I went in and said I wanted another $300, and we'd have a deal. Their high-pressure back-room sales guy said no deal, I said ok and headed for the door. He came outside as I was leaving, and agreed to my terms.

About 13.55% off MSRP on my deal.

I've seen a higher percentage off MSRP posted in this thread, but it seems like those were from regions like GST or SET where they really tack on a lot of stuff like stripping, paint sealants, tinted windows, scotchguarded seats, VIN etching, spacer lifts, running boards, tires, etc. etc. Ie: Very High profit margin aftermarket stuff.

The 4Runner I bought only had factory installed Toyota accessories, and no high profit margin aftermarket extras inflating the MSRP. So there likely was less room to deal on mine, vs one loaded with aftermarket extras.

Lots of game playing in the car buying biz. But in the end I felt okay about the deal, and I assume they did too, or it wouldn't have happened.

I got my 19 ORP with an initial MSRP of $41,600 down to $36,400 + tax. This included all dealer fees and minus the $1000 incentive. I was happy with 14.4% off especially since there was only 2 left in my state in the color and options I wanted in a 19 (I did not want a 2020).

Ultimately these threads have to be taken with a grain of salt. Discounts will vary dealer to dealer and which part of the country you're in. Just because one person get a particularly good deal in one place, that doesn't mean that the same deal is possible were you live.

All in all I'd say that your not getting a bad deal at all and if you're happy with it then that's all that really matters.

Got $2500 off sticker on a '20 TRD Pro in AG

Plus got the tax credit from the courtesy trade ($34k) that saved me almost $3k in sales tax.

Just finalized a deal in the northeast on:

2020 TRD Off-Road Premium with moonroof, no KDSS, Super White
MSRP: $44,080
Purchase Price: $39,245
OTD price including taxes and fees: $43,350

Seem reasonable to everyone else?
First time I've ever bought a car brand new

I paid $39,105 for the exact same thing except mine is silver. I'm in the southeast.

The pricing on the 2019 Off Road Premiums is reaching Captain Insaneo levels. The dealers seem to have plenty of units on the lots and are pricing them to go. I unfortunately really had to have the new instrument cluster and radio and was willing to pay for it...

I saw a 2019 ORP at a local dealer today. It was used, had less than 900 miles on it. CarMax shows damage to the right side (looks like doors were replaced) and they were asking about $42k! That’s what other dealers are pricing the unused 2019s at! I am guessing someone traded this unit in after it got damaged.

Congratulations! I just bought my first brand new car as well.

2020 TRD Off-Road Premium with moonroof, no KDSS, Barcelona Red with a few more options (all weather liners, roof rack)
MSRP: $43,924
Purchase Price: $40,580 (7.6% off MSRP)
OTD price including taxes and fees: $44,587

I am located in California but purchased the car in Washington state. Picking it up during Veteran's weekend.

Dang I think you guys got a better deal than me. But I am happy after all the hunting and pitting every dealership I went to against each other...hahaha

2020 TRD ORP with moonroof, No KDSS, all weather floor mats, tint, roof rack, Chrome tip exhuast, 3m door gaurds, Cup holder gaurds (I wanted all of these taken off but they kept in), and TRD Pro wheels.

MSRP w/o TRD Pro wheels : 44,685
Purchase OTD w/TRD Pro Wheels: 44,000

But.....they got me on that silly toyota Etended Protection @ a "Fixed" 7yr so they added an extra $1650 for that. Took the bait due to the fact they will cover past the lengthn of the loan also covers a great deal on the electronics side of things.

I've been getting quotes on 2019 SR5 Premiums with 3rd row and sunroof. Best price I've got so far is $36,900 plus TTL. Still feel like there is a better to be had if I wait longer.

I wish Toyota would offer incentives up here in the NW for the 4Runner.

2019 October 31 - I purchased 2019 4Runner SR5 Premium 4x4 - white with graphite interior. No KDSS.

Options:
- Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof w/Sunshade
- Keep It Wild Savings
- SofTex-trimmed 50/50 Split Fold-Flat Third-Row Seating and Sliding Second-Row w/Passenger-Side One-Touch Access to Third-Row with Third-Row Curtain Shield Airbags
- Wilderness Package

Cash purchase price including the $1,500 cashback incentive: $36,539
MSRP on that vehicle with all options: $41,774
That's over 12% off MSRP.

My out the door price ended up being $40,715.
I purchased it at $1,282 below the invoice price.

The dealership I went to said they sell about 600 cars a month. 400 of them come back for service. That's how they make most money - service, warranties, insurances and all of the extra stuff. They don't make much money on selling the actual vehicle and that is the reason why they can afford to sell under invoice every now and then. And then there are obviously Toyota incentives.

Here's an interesting tidbit. Because dealerships make most of the money on the service - local dealers are more likely to fight aggressively for your purchase than remote ones. I talked to dealerships from other states (Oregon / Nevada) and none of them were able to get close to what eventually local dealers started to offer.

That's pretty much the car I got. In my area, Northern California, the inventory is getting smaller. There were only 2 vehicles with that exact configuration and colors within 2 hour driving distance. If you wait too long, you might not get 2019 anymore.

Yeah I'm not going to be upset if I don't get one, just trying to get the best deal as they are moving out inventory for the 2020s.

You mentioned $1500 cash back...was this a Toyota incentive? What dealership was this at?

FWIW, I'm extremely not stoked with Stevinson West in Lakewood, CO right now. They put some kind of remote disabling system on all their cars, that the sales people can open with an app on their phone. They leave it on the car when you buy it, apparently. Well, for some reason mine triggered an alarm today and ran my battery down while I'm at work, it won't let me turn it off, they can't figure out how to turn it off remotely. I called the front desk and they told me to call my salesperson. The sales guy say it's not his problem and to call service. I call service and they tell me to call the sales guy. Pretty unhappy with my purchase at the moment and wishing I had bought my car somewhere else.

AND they are now refusing to take off the remote disabling system.
